They actually banned a card? They could just make it 5/5 for 5R with no abilities, and it wouldn't be weird in this format where cards do whatever they feel like. This is the format of "Surprise, Black Lotus now costs two mana and produces two mana, woohoo!"

The argument was any change killed the combo which is why it was played so ban/adjust ends up the same, nobody playing it.
People actually listen to that incoherent mess of a youtube?

okay, so changing the card means no one will play the combo... sure, that makes sense.
except that they change cards in this format all the ******* time so what does it matter if you make the combo unplayable by changing the card at all? there's cards that are dramatically different from their paper counterparts so it doesn't even matter if this got changed. yeah, it'd be the same as banning it... but huurrrdurrr whats the point in making a format with malleable cards if you're going to pick and choose whats malleable and whats bannable.

Doing it this way leaves the card as is in Historic.
This "Alchemy" format is so bad that when it came out I literally stopped playing Arena altogether, and I was beta testing since before they got rid of the Kaladesh and Amonkhet sets!
Talk about the worst possible way to confuse players both established and new; creating multiple versions of cards with the same name and art, but different casting costs and effects.
What the hell were they thinking?
Why wouldn't they just ban the cards which are "problematic" in this new online-only format, and make new online-only cards for said format with entirely different names which haven't been used yet? It's absolutely dumbfounding.
Honestly, I can't even login to Arena anymore because this irks me so much.
It's so weird to see Grinning Ignus banned in any format at all, kinda wild
Enjoy your uncommon wild cards boys
I actually quite like the modifications to limited scrap to turn them into potentially interesting playable cards, especially when it turns commons into playables. I think Arena could be quite more affordable if you could build decks on lower rarities but for now MTGO is best
