At some point in Commander games, the large amounts of mana available means people start drawing more cards and playing more spells. The Council is there to leech off that increased value for your benefit. Is it enough?
Minor point of annoyance: on a card full of nice even numbers that can be linked to the number 4, the mana value of the card is 5.
I find it ironic that there are at least 2 Council members with their own cards in this set (Abdel Adrian, Ulder Ravengard). Heck, the Council isn't part Red, while Ulder is. Which incarnation of the Council does this card show?
Well, that's definitely Ulder Ravengard in the back, and Thalamra Vanthampur in the middle. I'm guessing this is the Descent Into Avernus council, which also had Belynne Stelmane (the woman on the far right, perhaps her seated posture in both images is indicative of her paralysis), and Dillard Portyr on the left (a man who is mostly described as hating the stress of leadership, which would explain the booze).
I don't follow D&D so I can't comment on flavor accuracy, but I like this card. I was planning on building a Kwain, Itinerant Meddler deck and this seems just perfect for it.
