If you weren't already running G in Dragon tribal, maybe this would convince you. According to Magic designer Chris Mooney,GUR is all Dragons in the set, with each color pair playing very differently from one another.

*clears throat* ahem.
Anyway for Ur-dragon players 1 less not enough how about 3 less when in play (you know you want ur-dragon in play because the second ability is obnoxiously large draw then you get to cheat/sneak a permanent in.)
Has anyone considered the ramifications of these Backgrounds in the 98 with Partner Commanders? I feel like this in a deck with Rograkh and some other Partner could get real stupid, real fast with Dragons being up to 4 less to cast. Just a thought.
So if I remember my alignments correctly, the metallic dragons were evil, whether chaotic or lawful, right?

You mixed them up: metallic dragons are good, while chromatic dragons are evil. Tiamat is the evil 5-coloured dragon goddess, while Bahamut is the good platinum dragon god (who admittedly does not spend all his time looking like a dragon).
Brass dragons probably get assigned MTG Black partially because they use noxious gas as a weapon. (Less reliable sources, such as Dragonlance and unreliable claimed generic D&D, seem to lean towards giving brass dragons more mercenary and "might-makes-right" natures.)
Metallic dragons are good-aligned, gem-dragons are mostly neutral, and chromatic dragons are evil-aligned.
Honestly the brass dragon having a black color identity is a flavor fail, but it's not a huge deal.
