For those who probably weren't around at the time Duel Masters was one of Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro's discontinued Paper Trading Card Games / Collectible Card Games that was first released in the U.S. back in 2004 and was officially discontinued in 2006 with the Japanese version still currently in production. Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro eventually brought the game back by re-branding it as "Kaijudo" which was shortly discontinued along with the Transformers TCG during the same time period.
I don't know for sure If Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro still owns the rights and properties for Duel Masters but apparently based on what The Magic Historian is discussing here with Magic: The Gathering nearing it's 30th year anniversary they apparently thought it was a good idea to reprint Black Lotus in the Japanese version of Duel Masters thinking that it wouldn't violate the Reserve List since it's getting reprinted for a different Paper Trading Card Game / Collectible Card Game and NOT Magic: The Gathering.

so its just a proxy if you use it in mtg since its not a magic card. a magic card is more than its artwork, and even its effect. who gives a ****? not a reserved list violation. you can also do this already with the power of a printer.
clickbaity video title too, he even breaks it down how absurd it is to compare this to reprinting lotus for real
This Black Lotus "reprint" was actually a part of a Japanese Duel Masters OCG expansion titled, "DMEX-18 20th Anniversary Huge Thanks Memorial Pack: The Chapter of The Shadow Parallel Masters" commemorating the 20th anniversary of Duel Masters and the 30th anniversary of Magic: The Gathering respectively which also featured new Races (Creature Types) such as Mana Bird (reference to Birds of Paradise) and Slivers which in Kaijudo were printed as Corrupted since they basically functioned the same.

I used to be a demigod, but now I'm an omnimage
Wouldn't a print off just fit better? At least it says what it does.

Not only did this set contain "reprints" of Black Lotus, Sliver Queen, and Library of Alexandria (with different abilities of course) but it also contained "reprints" of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Living Death, Nicol Bolas, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Urza's Rage, Earthquake, Birds of Paradise, Serra Angel, Brainstorm, Muscle Sliver, and Pouncing Jaguar. So they didn't exactly go too deep into the Reserve List rabbit hole. Nothing to worry about in terms of a possible violation. They also added in MTG's Kicker mechanic into this set as well.
