Our first precon for the set is the modified-matters Upgrades Unleashed deck. Yup, Auras, Equipment, and counters again. Joining Chishiro, the Shattered Blade are his patron kami, and someone ironically looking for less battle.
most of these feel needlessly high in cmc. it has the result of feeling like a tax on a tax when most of them also require an aura, counter, or equipment to already be on a creature. its disappointing and not overly engaging.
Smoke Spirits' Aid has exactly 0 interaction with Dockside Extortionist? They're still your enchantments, even if they're on your opponents creatures.
i will be relieved if thats the case but will see if any judges see this and confirm which way is correct
It's just like Pacifism or any enchantment that its put on an opponent's creature. The only difference is something you control creates the enchantments. You still control those enchantments. It's not like the effect states the enchantments enter the battlefield under your opponents control. If your judge rules otherwise, you're gonna need new judges because that's a basic rule from since the dawning of mankind.

no the judges at the stores i go to are way better than this.
I dont mind putting beneficial auras on opposing creatures, so long as theyre not headed MY way. And with enough enchantress effects in green, there's a good chance of having enough card draw to offset red's usual weakness and keep the auras coming. Might have to build this one.
Smoke spirits: first thing that comes to mind you do as many opponents creatures as possible then just straight up Blasphemous Act
Fury: Nice big hand punishers are always nice.
Red Doggy: Yeesh thats pretty nasty if it gets threw on some one its basically Marisi, Breaker of the Coil for equipped creature or alone
Green cards
The monk: Gets massive for each +1/+1 creature then its a Primordial Hydra effect
Concord: probably gonna be underrated but man that is lame since when do green decks have all three of those (counter/equip/aura)
One with kami: That will make it a rattlesnake to destroy/block best part is flash so you can surprise the hell out of them.
Juvenator: THEY RETCON CREATURES ON KAMIGAWA AGAIN! THERE WAS NEVER ANY HYDRAS ON KAMIGAWA EITHER! Now the card ablitiy to remind it's asking for power and not counters so berzerk might be beautiful with this if you get it bigger
Silkguard: Thats probably are chase card because you may only need 2 mana because your creatures may already have a counter/equipment/aura on it.
Green doggy: again like the hydra it cards about power so buff it up with everything you got and you get a truck load of green mana

Jumbo commander screwed up he didn't look at the card correctly
there's no "for each" on the card its only "A creature card" so only one creature comes back
so only 1 creature for each player comes from the library not equal to the number of creatures shuffled into the library.
The hydra could have been interesting but it costs too much

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

I'm pretty sure it's a plant and not a hydra, which is why it's plant hydra and not hydra plant. There's probably an over/under on whether people would be more mad that a clearly hydra ability was on a plant or that the plant was the sets only hydra.
Wow. Komainu Battle Armor is a Saint Seiya reference if I ever saw one. Obscure 80s fight anime about battle armors with animal designs based on the zodiac constellations.
And obvious Spirited Away reference with the sootlings. Classy
Between this, the Fist of the North Star and numerous mecha references, I'm surprised they didn't sneak in a Jojo reference as well, considering how popular the memes are.
Bit of a heads up: this deck was accidentally printed with two copies of Mossfire Valley. The suggestion is to replace it with a basic (just grab one from the land station in your nearest LGS).
Spoiler alert: Saint Seiya is releasing 4 movies starting 2023.
If it gets to be a success in the US, I’m sure we’ll get to see legendary equipments with companion in MTG.
