Meet Isshin, the leader of the Asari Uprising, our Mardu Samurai legend (but not tribal) and what happens if Wulfgar of Icewind Dale wasn't so selfish and doubles your attack triggers from EVERYONE. His creator David McDarby even makes a Commander deck for him.

Bloody hell that's a solid commander. He doesn't EXACTLY double attack triggers for everyone, he doubles the triggers on YOUR permanents only.
So, let's say you and your opponent each have a Hellrider out, and you also have a Hissing Miasma in play. With this guy as your commander, you'll get double triggers from the Hellrider when YOU attack. If your opponent attacks, though? His Hellrider only triggers once, and your Miasma gets doubled!
Please, mill me. Mill my important cards. Mill my lands. Mill it all. Because I will still deal 20 damage before you can mill 45 cards most every time.
I'm guessing between this guy and the kirin, we're getting our early preview of Capenna. Kinda disappointing if we're getting another fully wedge block.
Though, I guess we could also end up with whatever mix of Arcs and Wedges balances out with Jeskai and Mardu.
Yeah but I thought New Capenna will be the shards? Would be weird to have the last two three-color sets both be the wedges.
They've been very specific about not saying which way Capenna runs. The announcement reads: "Trailing after our trip to Kamigawa like a detective with gumption, the following Standard release takes us to the Streets of New Capenna—a city with special significance to Elspeth, built by angels now run by three-color demon crime families."
People really want it to be shards, because it's been 14 years, and we've had two wedge sets since then, but they've explicitly not said one way or the other.
And now that I'm not occupied, if Capenna isn't just wedges, and is using these legends as a signpost, then the only color-balanced option is Jeskai, Mardu, Sultai, Bant, Jund. Which would sort of fit, since Bant colors are tied to Elspeth, and so is this city/plane, apparently.

while it makes sense to make such a samurai with the way how they are designed in kamigawa, i kind of find it boring, that so short after Wulfgar of Icewind Dale we get another legend with the same ability.
and they make him so much better
1 more color
triggers enemy creatures attacks as well
and 3 mana (screw melee and 1 power, this is so much better)
He looks very distinctly White/Caucasian (at least at the current image resolution), and it's kind of jarring to me.
Yeah, maybe he's descended from Planeswalkers, I get it. But it kind of breaks my immersion, in a "red-headed Chandra from Kaladesh" kind of way.
I was thinking the same thing. I am relieved to see they are indeed a Japanese male. Kamigawa should feature all Japanese human characters unless they're a PW or the offspring of one

Planes are not ethnostates. They are planets with any kind of people inside it. There are poc on Kamigawa, asians on Eldraine and caucasians on Kaladesh.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

Who's the third card? We have Isshin, Two Heavens as One and Hinata, the Crown of Dawn, but I haven't seen a Sultai legend.

Tatsunari, Toad Rider is Sultai.
