Before previews for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.
First up, here are some things you can expect:
• two different pairings of creature types get tribally connected
• a black instant with “Destroy target creature or planeswalker” that can be cast for two mana
• a popular legendary creature from Champions of Kamigawa block returns in a new form
• an unnamed mechanic that cares about you having two things that Magic has had since its beginning
• finish of a five-card cycle many years in the making
• one of Tamiyo’s children gets a legendary creature card
• a new creature token with an ability not seen before on a card
• two popular cycles from Champions of Kamigawa block return each with a new twist
• a creature that makes a legendary Frog creature token
• two new Yamazakis
Next, here are some rules text that will be showing up on cards:
• “you may cast target enchantment from your graveyard this turn.”
• “where X is the number of times this ability has resolved this turn.”
• “Whenever you cast an artifact, instant, or sorcery spell, copy that spell.”
• “The first activated ability of an artifact you activate each turn costs 2 less to activate.”
• “Then repeat this process for an enchantment and a planeswalker.”
• “You may sacrifice a permanent that shares a card type with the chosen card.”
• “you may tap any number of untapped creatures you control.”
• “The ‘legend rule’ doesn’t apply to permanents you control.”
• “that ability triggers an additional time.”
• “if it has dealt 10 or more damage to that player this turn, they lose the game.”
Finally, here are some creature type lines in the set:
• Creature – Fox Pilot
• Creature – Turtle Ninja
• Creature – Moonfolk Samurai
• Artifact Creature – Goblin Artificer
• Artifact Creature – Ogre Warrior
• Enchantment Creature – Rat Rogue
• Enchantment Creature – Egg
• Legendary Creature – Kirin Spirit
• Legendary Creature – Goblin Samurai
• Legendary Enchantment Creature – Snake Druid
Read the story before the cards and mechanics debut on Daily MTG January 24- January 27th. Then step into the shining city with our debut January 27th 9 AM PT on our official YouTube and Twitch channels.
- Tamiyo's children?!
- Two new Yamazakis
- Legendary Enchantment Creature?!
- Finishing a cycle that was years in the making...what's missing? A red cantrip from Homelands? OHH Maybe it's finishing the legendary lands that count each as a respective basic land type a la Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth? No maybe not... Derp Ryperior posted about it while I was creating this banter. The Kodama thing. Of course.
- The unnamed mechanic that cares about two things Magic has had since its beginning...Spirits and/or Enchantments? "Whenever you cast an enchantment or spirit spell"?
oh to prove its not a leak you also find the name and art on kaitos origin story
He makes these in advance, he talked on how when he makes these list he doesn't know whats typically been shown.

“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
Ps 5color mark messed up on these before he accidental did two teasers thay both lead to professor onyx when each one is intended for 1 card/cycle
two popular cycles from Champions of Kamigawa block return each with a new twist
I think a leak has one of those
The legendary lands with channel
two new Yamazakis
I’m gonna guess they worded them in wacky way so they can be partner commanders just like how they worded Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar so you can madness her from the command zone
you may cast target enchantment from your graveyard this turn
thats intended for the saga’s by far
1. Whenever you cast an artifact, instant, or sorcery spell, copy that spell
2. The first activated ability of an artifact you activate each turn costs 2 less to activate
3. that ability triggers an additional time
I’m smelling one of these is jin gitaxias
and one other for tezzeret
The ‘legend rule’ doesn’t apply to permanents you control.
Going to pick up a play set of the “The ‘Legend rule’ doesn’t apply to permanents you control” card here just in case. And maybe the legendary lands that produce colored mana.
I am willing to bet that the art for the Turtle Ninja is what is on the green theme booster.
Now what I'm super interested in is this new creature type "Pilot" which is obviously related to vehicle cards. I am looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

Never forget whose grace and favor led to your success and always give your thanks, otherwise you might be doomed to loose it.
I'm guessing the enchantment creatures won't have the same frame as those from Theros, probably due to them being specific to Theros with the constellation/underworld theme?

Sounds like we have a Mirror Gallery reprint, which feels like an odd choice for the reprints they could choose from that block, seeing as it doesn't matter in Commander and doesn't feel like it has any other home

it’s not mirror gallery it’s missing “you control” part of it
For "tribal connections", I think that one obvious are Ogres and Demons -- in the original Kamigawa block, there were Ogre cards that rewarded you for playing Demons and vice versa. Seeing the sagas, maybe Snakes got a similar connection to Kirin here?

close maro said that connect is similar to werewolves and wolfs

Watch it be a functional errata, to make it function like the new slivers, taking out the downside because they are trying to get rid of downside outside of white ramp and card draw

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
It's less of removing downsides and more of removing unnecessary complexity. Slivers vs Slivers used to be a nightmare to deal with. Keeping track of your own board can be difficult enough sometimes.
“Nashi” a nezumi Tamiyo adopted after her home village was destroyed by none other than tezzeret. This also includes Rumiyo and hiroku
Yeah, the Tezzeret connection is what cements Nashi's place in the set. Question now is if his mother (and maybe father?) would be in the set.
Honestly, if Tamiyo's NOT in this set, WTH is Wizards even doing?
It's increasingly looking like there's no room for Tamiyo in the storyline or the set.
Kaito Shizuki's card is UB, so sadly that means that Tezzeret is probably either completely out, mono-blue, or Grixis in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty (none of which makes much sense, IMO, but Tezzeret being completely out makes the most sense). And if Tezzeret is regrettably completely out, he's already been mentioned by name in the storyline, and Kaito is actively questing for him (and I think the two will fight in the storyline), what chance does Tamiyo have of inserting herself into the storyline or the set?
Our last hope for Tamiyo is that Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty pulls a Crimson Vow and jams multiple planeswalkers that share a colour into the set (Crimson Vow has the black Sorin the Mirthless and Kaya, Geist Hunter). Part of me is wondering whether Grist of Grist, the Hunger Tide fame will make its/her storyline debut in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty due to its/her vague similarity to kami, and if B-BW already happened and UB-GB is remotely plausible, then so is UB-U(GW). But regardless of who the third planeswalker is, Wizards had better include them in the storyline.

Limited number of planeswalker slots per set and Kaito, Wanderer and Tezzeret being more story important and the fact Tamiyo is a planeswalker who can in theory appear in any set.
That said while Tezzeret is plot important and as it looks like this set has a artifact theme going so Tezzeret as a card would fit well, nothing yet has locked him in over Tamiyo. At the moment he could be off plane and we end the story with Kaito seeking to find him.
And there is always the possibility they have 4 walkers card in the set as well.

Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.
Guessing Nashi for Tamiyo's child, fingers crossed for the lady herself.
Pilot confirms Vehicles pretty much.
Kappa is the ninja turtle, wonder if it will be a one off or if kappas will be a new tribe on the plane.

I think I got this in the bag
1: Snake and naga
2: ninja and rouge
I’m certain this is not referencing Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos it could be Azusa or kiki
