Satoru and the rest of the Hyozan Reckoners wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays. They would also like to inform everyone that they have vacancies in their organization. Big or small, anyone with the right skills is welcome.
Although we could have seen it coming a mile away for being one of the few Kamigawa block mechanics to make it onto multiple later cards, we finally got confirmation here: ninjutsu is back!
nothing new abouut how broken they are - but any combination of 2 of palinchrongreat whale peregrine drake or one of when we get the almost guaranteed ninjitsu costs are reduced by 2 is going to allow infinite mana - and can allow infinite etb. I think yuriko still holds the best commander spot - but this guy/gal is definitely a combo engine in the making.

I hope they spread it over other colours rather than just UB. I guess we'll see. But SO GREAT to see more ninjutsu support in the game.
Remember your ninjas from Betrayers? Yeah you might want to go dig them up again.

And here I was hoping that Winota would get banned in Pioneer and they roll this thing out.
One turn to remove it (or the creature threat from opponents hand) or else you are staring down something potentially game ending. Turn 4 just like Winota decks, but maybe a tad more interactable but potentially far more deadly.
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.

It's a Quicksilver Amulet with a huge caveat and has no synergy with Yuriko.
It's nice there's a new option but this guy is pretty weak imo.
i hope you're not talking about Commander. Because in that case, when you will see him hitting you with a random eldrazi or colossus and protecting himself with counters you'll feel it directly in your face how "weak" he is.
Yuriko can slam each opponent for 8-10 on turn 2 with ease and is seriously difficult to deal with due to Commander Ninjutsu. In multiplayer settings and in cEDH, I don't think that Yuriko is being dethroned as far as raw power. Even with top-tier counterspell support, this card has no form of protection while Yuriko arguably has the best protection a commander could have.
I am not saying that a hand with 2 swamps, 2 islands, tormented soul, blightsteel colossus, and fierce guardianship would not be gas, of course. Just pointing out that they are doing different things. I honestly think that Jodah is a better point of comparison. Satoru costs 1 less to cast, one less to use, and is less taxing on your mana base but limits your colors and card types while requiring unblocked attackers... but lets you reuse ETB triggers/escape counterspells/gives card flow once per turn. That seems the be the real point of comparison as Satoru seems like a card that will rarely helm an actual ninja deck.

Exactly. It's right there on the card. Each creature card gets ninjutsu. There might be a sight benefit to having cheaper ninjutsu already, but this card specifically removes the barrier of playing Ninja.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Never forget whose grace and favor led to your success and always give your thanks, otherwise you might be doomed to loose it.
It's a Quicksilver Amulet with a huge caveat and has no synergy with Yuriko.
It's nice there's a new option but this guy is pretty weak imo.
In Pioneer: Its superior to quicksilver amulet (which isn't playable in Pioneer anyway). Amulet wouldn't be dropped until turn 3 in Pioneer and activated until turn 4 and if the creature was without haste not attacking until turn 5. (and able to be blocked as well potentially)
This can cheat in an unblocked creature attacking turn 3 potentially with Grazer (or a mana dork) that Crispen mentioned above. Or drop an Ornithopter and Grazer turn 1 then Satoru turn 2, turn 3 swing with Grazer and Ornithopter and ninjutsu whatever huge Timmy card you have in hand. Sure that relies on removal and counter but there are a few decks in Pioneer that don't have those interactions. And yes it depends on a rather specific opening hand.
Its going to be abused in Pioneer somehow. Tier 1, I doubt it but Winota decks are out there and this card plays the same general role.

I hadn't thought about Ornithopter, that's excellent tech. T1 Grazer into Underground Sea could also provide Slither Blade.
Master of Cruelties doesn't work with this at all. Master's ability triggers when no blockers are declared against it. Putting it out with ninjutsu would get it on the field after that point. The last point that the Master can be put out and be able to trigger is the Declare Attackers step.
As far as its viability, I'll wait to see the rest of the set before making that judgement.

(For Ninja tribal, is Satoru a weapon to surpass
Metal GearYuriko?)(list as if this is commander)

Elspeth and Jhoira rock my world.
i know its not like yuriko its just i saw this as a salty commander like Urza, Lord High Artificer, Leovold, Emissary of Trest, Tergrid, God of Fright in less than a moment after a read it there are countless creatures you can cheat out with nasty ETB/Deals combat damage triggers
also my goodness palinchron and great whale are also psycho with this guy
oh now lets show as if in the 99
Arent daily spoilers scheduled from 27th ?

Wonder If Satoru Umezawa will get a preemptive ban like what happened to Lutri, the Spellchaser in Ikoria?

I think it's just so that you can attack instantly with any other creature when an opportunity to go unblocked presents itself.
EDIT: So that you're guaranteed a better shot at Ninjutsu, just to be clear.

You forget the part where Satoru is a Quicksilver Amulet that can automatically refuel itself with more creatures to cheat out.
I hadn't thought about Ornithopter, that's excellent tech. T1 Grazer into Underground Sea could also provide Slither Blade.
Edit:. The idea of using Giant Adephage tickles me.
You aren't forced to play Gorm the Great. You can still just ninjutsu in Virtus the Veiled for a Ebonblade Reaper facsimile.
As far as its viability, I'll wait to see the rest of the set before making that judgement.
