DARN IT WIZARDS!!! that ishakah 2.0 and gitrog 2.0 are amazing and they are digital exclusive you could have atleast try to make paper friendly version in MID or/and vow.
When you reprint the orginal version you better give them those arts those are eons better than the orginals
This is the real potential of a digital magic client. I just wish physical packs of magic cards each had a code on the back of the token card that was redeemable for a digital pack of Arena cards.
I am not a fan of these "fixes" for cards. This is just going to lead to confusion later on and really shows that WotC really went off the rails the last few years and has a whole bunch of mistakes they pushed and need to nerf (I'm assuming far more nerfs than buffs will ever come from this.) Is it just me or is Magic changing a little too much as of late? It seems like they want to make a different game at this point.
The spellbook legendaries feel like they want to make another Commander format based on these effects.
Change the new Gitrog Monster a little and it could easily work in paper and if it wasn't for the fact we're missing yet another Core Set it likely could have been printed there. Just throw out Seek for search and the land ability to be "lands you control have" and there you go.
Captain Eberhart is worded really strangely with "this turn" even for these perpetual effects.
In the art book for Innistrad they note that the Gitrog, who was already a proto-emrakul spawn, and other similar monster were farther wrapped and mutated and I do like the new card reflects that.

If that is true (I say if because I do not know) then they may have left it out to not show anything related to eldrazi. A few cards might have art hints, but it seemed like they tried yet again to have as little or no references to eldrazi, just like in Zendikar 3 where there was one whole card. You'd think when a chunk of the planet is turned bismuth and ivory webbing you'd maybe see some of that.

The whole story of Innistrad 3 was about the consequences of Emrakul being stuck in the moon, and trying to rectify them. It was stated that most of Emrakul's spawn vanished once she was in the moon, which makes sense considering they are basically a part of her. And still mutations and body horror all around on Innistrad, which is shown in a bunch of cards and linked to Emrakul without having to make card space for Eldrazi typed creatures (I think almost all "Horror" typed creatures in the set are caused by the continued influence of the sealed titan). So while I give you that Zendikar 3, in its quest to make people forget Battle for Zendikar existed, went overboard and made it seem like the Eldrazi never ravaged Zendikar at all, Innistrad 3 is definitely making an effort to show the consequences. And it is very much understandable that the citizens of Innistrad would simply not want to remember that time beyond describing it euphemistically as "The Travails".
you want new formats on arena...... Add 4 Player Commander (Historic Brawl, whatever) and 2 headed giant, it would be niiiice.
still, I like the "digital only" cards.
not sure about the rebalancing though, it's weird.... maybe that means, no more wild cards once stuff is banned? haha

Shadow Over Innistad set up that most anything with a horror creature type was in the begining stagess of becoming an emrakul spawn and confirmed that while not as bad as during Innistrad 2 she is still wrapping and influencing people (as well as causing the dire strain werewolves), is what is throwing the balance off day/night and caused the eternal night and even the spikes of frost we see in the art are said to be forming in that shape due to Emrakul. So all of the horror in this "block" https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=type:horror (set:vow OR set:mid OR set:voc OR set:mic)
So, except the zombis, are creatures who where wrapped by Emrakul. We also have the star rain we see around the moon this time around is caused by her and literally makes her silhouette with the moon as her "eye" looming over Innistrad in a ton of art.
We might not have eldrazi creatures running round but they def are showing Emrakul has forever changed the plane.

personally same with Ishakah could have been made similar to Garth One-Eye with those spider spells
(No we’re near the amount of cards on there ofcoarse.)
I am not the target for this as I don't play Arena (and never will without drastic changes to it) but I HATE this idea. It is terrible. Two sets of rules for the same named cards, cards not playable in paper, digital only mechanics, bad bad bad. Personally I hope it fails in epic fashion. But again I ain't the target.

Both Stromkirk Condemned and Stromkirk Occultist look quite obviously under the influence of Emrakul indeed. It's unfortunate that they were pushd off to the Commander product. Ulvenwald Behemoth and the Bird Horrors are the best we get in the set. Some other Horrors are questonable e. g. Krothuss, Lord of the Deep looks quite Lovecraftian, but I wouldn't suspet Emrakul's influence as much as a native benthic horror.

Both of those are reprints from last time we were in innistrad with Emrakul, not new cards.
If this bothers you--just don't play Alchemy? Don't see how any of this is confusing. If you're playing in paper, the Alchemy cards don't matter. If you're playing anything in Arena other than Alchemy or Historic, the Alchemy cards don't matter.
I think this is awesome, and am excited to play with a lot of these cards in Historic especially. Honestly not super excited about "slightly different Standard," but don't mind that it's coming either.

Just imagine you play "normal" standard and "alchemy" standard, and you run the same cards which do different things.
Its much easier to keep a clear mind if its entirely different cards with different names, it just gets unnecessary confusing if the same card is not the same in different formats.
A lot of cards people keep in mind by name. You know what a card is doing by its name, and if thats is no longer true, its in every case confusing at best and an avoidable problem that WotC is producing out of nowhere.
A card can already have Oracle text and do something fixed in its ruling, but that is still consistent among formats, so if something changes, its true everywhere.
For a casual format people might search for cards and find the "Alchemy" versions, and would like to have that version in their Commander deck (and people will print out Proxy cards for digital only cards, as people did that for the other digital only cards we already got too).
The entire thing is a mess.
What they should do is fix the cards in the first place to avoid having to change them.
And if that doesnt work out, the card is banned in the format and gone, its their mistake.
Changing manacosts and adding keywords etc. its also completely random what changes a card gets, its basically a different card at that point all together.
Gatekeeping the cards as digital only is also a big deal for paper formats as players will always be stranded with the aftertaste of not having the option to run version X.
And most important of all, this will just set a precedent for them to do more of this and add versions for more formats, and be more lazy playtesting cards, as they can resort to "fix" them easily in digital, now that they basically completely killed paper competitive play ...
Its just awful future perspectives and this generates problems that wouldnt exist, the "solutions" are entirely artificial and not organic to the process of making the cards or playing the cards.
And then theres the deal with having the cards as multiple versions to pick them up in the first place.
You dont just get a card and automatically have all its versions (which would be the reasonable approach) ... no, you get only the Alchemy version out of its own booster product ...
Just imagine your Fetchland gets a nerfed version for Historic, your Spells randomly have scry 1 added to them, or some spells have +1 or -1 mana cost and all of that ... these changes are a mess.
Agreed. The way it stands there is ZERO chance of me ever playing Arena at this rate. Just because I'm not the target audience I can still voice my displeasure at what I perceive to be a BIG mistake. Last thing they need is an echo chamber where everyone thinks its butterflies and roses. If you like it fine, play it. Being pretty much a MTG traditionalist/semi-purist makes me hate it and short of big changes I will never play Arena as it is warping into a different game than MTG entirely. How soon before cards change their rules/power based on ranking of a player that owns that card? Its coming. I won't be a part of it. I've said my piece, no need to beat a dead horse. Others can debate merits or lack thereof.

… wizards… why the hell did you print a requested character on digital only and not MID or VOW
Who the heck asked for Geralf's old homunculus, last mentioned in the first Innistrad set? This guy was probably dredged off the MID and VOW cutting room floor like the new Gitrog and Ishkanah were.
