Yeeeeesh this wedding is way more brutal than it looks 2 bystanders are used as a topper for the wedding cake.
Nah its worse, I think its an actual couple who likely where planning on getting married, maybe even not knowingly on the same date as Olivia.

It's such a waste that WotC is capable of such great CGI and yet we still have not a single mtg movie, not even saying series, in almost 30 years of business.
Shrug, I'm sure they just hire an animation company to make it for them, and I bet that neither Wizards nor said animation company want to go through the hoops of making a feature length movie.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

MTG's success at story writing can be very inconsistent in terms of quality. Only one I found remotely good recently was Throne of Eldraine.
Don't get me wrong WOTC comes up with some amazing story premises, but the actual story writing can be hit or miss. And if MTG does have a movie ever come out I want it to be a roaring success that doesn't rely being a Magic the Gathering product to succeed.

Never forget whose grace and favor led to your success and always give your thanks, otherwise you might be doomed to loose it.

Why do we need stupid movies or shows? Try focusing 1/10 this skill (and budget) into hiring playtesters. Skip the movies. Make better formats.

Well as a true Vorthos, for me Magic lore and fantasy ambientantion is important exactly as his card game counterpart and it deserve all the best treatment it can gets. It's no like they can't do both good, there are different teams doing those jobs anyway.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

If you want a good reason to not do a CGI movie based on a game, take a good hard look at "Warcraft"...

The reason Warcraft was only okay at best was not because of the CGI, it was them doing a story that didn't work as a movie combined with the humans being lackluster characters. They took a 15 hour game and tried to condense it into 2 hours, that won't work. The CG on the orcs and the orc characters are easily the best things about that movie. That's is like saying Pixar shouldn't do CG because Planes exists.
People want a Magic movie to see the parts that stuck with them for years, things like Elspeth dying, much of the Brother's War, or (in my case) seeing stuff from Odyssey & Onslaught stories. The WoW movie would have worked if they chose the Lich King story, as much as I hate to say thanks to it being easier to understand and being straight forward of a good guy becoming a right bastage. We've seen many series come back that have done great, same can be said about terrible, but to say CG is the reason something does poorly is downright asinine and lacks the greater context.

It really depends on where the money is expected to come from. In our case the majority of profit would come from us the people who are invested in the game and those that could be potential investors. The reasoning being is that it would strengthen the brand loyalty and bring in fresh blood that would buy more cards.
Now if the movie does well there is a lot to be gained, a good movie can stand the test of time and would act as an effect means to generate interest in the actual game for years to come. But if done poorly it would fail to produce interest in those not already playing and those who do already play would be upset with the mishandling of the entire affair when all the wasted time and resources could have been spent on improving the health of the game.
Right now WOTC seems to want to use rookie or comic book writers for their stories, and it shows. And I am with ilovesaprolings in that if they want to have this level of story telling then fine just focus on making sure that MTG is a fun game to play.
