This is a weaker and non MDFC Valakut awakening basicly and I like it you could also say it’s a mono red Ancient Excavation but the reverse order.
"Each card you've discarded this turn" is quite relevant. This will not be played to replace your hand, but (if at all) as a refill for madness or other discard-heavy decks.
Preffer to play Cathartic Reunion or Dangerous Wager. This card is only good when you can literally infinite (or lots of) mana combo and have some loothing effects.
Cool card, but I think 4 mana is a bit too expensive for any deck that isn't Anje Falkenrath EDH. I think it's too janky even for Standard despite Plargg, Dean of Chaos and Blood tokens being a thing.
Can we talk about Sam Guay though? Circle of Dreams Druid was a nice piece but this and Demonic Bargain just knock it out of the park. Really excited to see more stuff from this artist.

If you're using it at face value it's one R pip away from being strictly worse than a mediocre Red Lesson no one plays. Without any synergies, it's just not good.
That said, I just remembered that copying this is pure gas, so maybe it indeed has more uses than I thought. Riku of Two Reflections and Melek, Izzet Paragon could use this as a draw spell. Shame it's kind of a nonbo with Rootha, Mercurial Artist.
You know what may really like this? Cycling decks. It might be just a bit too expensive being 4 mana but there's plenty to like if you've cycled a few cards first.

Agree! And even though there is apparently no relation, I see a similarity in style to Rebecca Guay. Both have such a flowing, natural vibe. Definitely looking forward to more from Sam.
This card is either awful, or broken if you can discard your hand for value first without paying additional mana (that's the real key). Cycling won't cut it unless you can cycle for 0. 4 mana is just a LOT for a Tolarian Winds.

sure but still very mana intensive... you need to have 4 mana to spare in some big turn, which is just not likely at all.
My Brallin and Shabraz deck wants this, no questions asked. that 'number you discarded this TURN' is massive. I wasn't expecting that one of all my decks to get an auto include here.

Depends how many Faithless Lootings you've cast first.

The discard-matters deck's primary wheel, or the one played at the end of the chain of wheels?

I see you forgot about Niv-Mizzet, Parun and The Locust God and Rielle, the Everwise

Mechanics are fine too, but it's not really a card that I want for anything.
