"A new legendary creature card that combines two characters that previously each had their own legendary creature card."
Grandpa Markov and Olivia, it seems. Years past I was hoping for a card depicting the Fourth Sister (Liesa) and a demonic lover, but I suppose two vampires will do.
Nah I bet they're the Vampire nobles and it's Halena and Alana.
Who said those two hints can't refer to the same card? You technically get two new Vampire Nobles, just on one card. Seems like a very Maro way to make hints...
If I recall correctly, he tries to not overlap the same card with hints (though it does occasionally happen)
Depends... if the card has the option to destroy lets say an artifact or curse or something like that but it seems a little strange. Could be a way for a color without straight up enchantment removal to remove attached curses on themself.
A straight up destroy target emblem is narrow, too... Even in commander were you won't have a target for such an effect... Destroying a Cities Blessing or Monarch Token feels kind of bad. And most of the time destroying an Emblem from a planeswalker is not enough (if you are against a superfriend deck) or will just not happen because emblems are on high loyalty costs.
Mark is referencing a mechanic with make the whole thing even stranger... Maybe remove everything (counter, attached auras and so on) of target permanent/player and call it cleanse? I could see something like that in red and white.

This is interesting for the new removal type, removing outside game pieces. So its possible it removes Night/Day, another example could be reset dungeon progress (though I doubt for this set).
Other ideas i have for this could be (if not already done) removing the back side of a DFC so they cannot transform (even when meeting their conditions), or things like "cannot untap in your next upkeep" like effects.
Imma throw this out there, but maybe the combined card will be the bride and groom. Apparently it's between Edgar Markov and Olivia Voldaren according to a promo that MTG Historian featured yesterday.

To me, the first thing that comes to mind is removing an emblem. I would bet that some folks at Wizards are itching to use them more often and they (if there are people who still care about balance) would want some way to keep it in check. ideally colorless.

Well if there was, then wouldn't they also do the same for poison counters? Emblems seems a bit iffy, but we could get a cycle where, White removes night, Black removes day, red removes emblems, green removes dungeons, and blue removes Monarch? or commander experience or something (these are rough guides of extra game pieces)
Today's MTG Arena Announcements from the mothership, https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-digital/mtg-arena-announcements-october-27-2021, strongly hint that two card names in Crimson Vow are Olivia, Crimson Bride and Sorin the Mirthless. Guess Olivia could be the Vampire Noble, but it really looks like she won't be in the duo card (I'm still betting on Hal and Alena or Ludevic and Olag).

I was just gonna post this for anyone who guessed Olivia and Edgar as one you just lost
as a matter of fact I probably have a answer no one even thought of and that’s liesa and Sigarda the sisters together as a reunion and would be a abzan legend

Or maybe Thalia and Saint traft.
Btw the “A legendary character returns, but now as a vampire” could be a Sorin legendary creature… On other hints Maro uses “Lengendary Creature” but with this hint he specially said “Legendary Character” well, planeswalkers have now the legendary type, and if sorin loses his spark and is printed as a legendary creature, then he would be a Vampire this time…
Also the obvious guess for the mechanic is Bloodthirst

The could be giving Sorin similar technology as Grist, the Hunger Tide. If so it could have some fun interactions with Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord and Forerunner of the Legion as well as allowing him to be a commander. For the guild mechanic a part of me hopes they give haunt an upgrade like how chroma became devotion. It's super flavorful and with spirits getting a commander deck disturb is most likely not coming back.

Embrace the dark you call a home,
Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone
and the card would present their reunion and working together again.
I think it'd be too soon for the sisters to have a combo. Both got a card in Midnight Hunt and if you were correct Liesa would also be receiving 3 versions all within a year which is usually something they only do for planeswalkers. It's more likely than not Hal and Alena who are getting the combo wambo.

Grist was a request of one of our creative directors that went something like, "we have this new character we want to introduce, but she's very weird, so her card will probably be weird, so maybe Modern Horizons 2 is the right place to do it." Sold!
Grist is that one planeswalking insect queen confirmed?
...Might Grist be going to Innistrad with Wrenn (and possibly Seven) if we trust the Wrenn leaks in this year's Innistrad set packaging?
Grist as a vampiric planeswalking insect queen with a posse that stretches a mile wide seems plausible.

so sorin might get the vampire type like grist if that happens fans will shout with glee that sorin can be a commander now

Enchantment removal?
RUNIN: Norse mythology set (awaiting further playtesting)
FATE of ALARA: Multicolour factions (currently on hiatus)
Contibutor to the Pyrulea community set
I'm here to tell you that all your set mechanics are bad

If I recall correctly, he tries to not overlap the same card with hints (though it does occasionally happen)
Probably because enchantment removal already doest that, and a card that said "Destroy target Curse" would be extremely narrow and largely unplayable.

sorry witchbane orb
but the way the double character legend
noBody is talking about liesa and Sigarda? But this time more like gisa and geralf rather than brisela, voice of nightmares
and the card would present their reunion and working together again.

I previously noticed that Wizards seemed willing to jump the gun with introducing Grist, almost as if Grist was coming in an Innistrad set.
Grist as a vampiric planeswalking insect queen with a posse that stretches a mile wide seems plausible.
