Olag, Ludevic’s Hubris
Legendary Creature - Zombie (Rare)
When this card transforms into Olag, Ludevic’s Hubris, it becomes a copy of one of the exiled cards, except this card's name is Olag, Ludevic’s Hubris, and it's a 4/4 blue and black legendary Zombie. Put a +1/+1 counter on it for each exiled card with Ludevic.
4/4
We finally get an actual graveyard-themed Ludevic card. The old man was dying, due to years of exposure to the toxic chemicals involved in necro-alchemy. Once Geralf was done with his training under his wing, he probably decided that dying an old, sick man isn't such a good idea, and went with... this.
What happens when he transforms into another copy of himself? Or some other DFC creature, for that matter? He does have another side, so the transform ability should see it and he transforms back into his original self, right?

Or as its "Ludevic’s Hubris", Ludevic might have done this to himself by mistake/on purpose. Very nice play on how people often think Frankenstein is the monster and not the doctor (who is also a monster) and Wizards decided to just say "they both are Frankenstein".

Since most of the most desirable expensive creatures are valued because of their ETB effects I'm having a hard time visualizing what one might want this to transform into. Any suggestions?
And a question. Since this is the backside of a DFC does it copy the front or back of the copied card, if that card is a DFC? Ideally, if it copied the back side and triggered that cards transform trigger there may be some value there.

When not on the battlefield/stack only the front face is seen for characteristics, so this won't copy a back-sides transform tigger. Though IIRC some older cards had front-sides with transform triggers as well.
That said, this won't trigger any transform triggers anyway with the currently proposed wording since the copy effect itself is a triggered ability, so the copied abilities will only be there once the transformation is completed - possibly one of the reasons this doesn't start at 0/0 either.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Great art on this version of Ludevic. The colors make more sense as well, although it will be unfortunate for those seeking to play both in Commander due to color discrepancy
I am not sure what to make of his transform. Odd. If his fans like it though, go for it
Does a bit of a Lazav, the Multifarious impression. Better base stats, but the ability's pricey and not repeatable. Nice that you can play a second after it transforms.

Yeah, that does make sense. Then I'm really left scratching my head as to when I would want this over Body Double.

This actually sounds extremely plausible. They did Kraken not because greek mythology had kraken but because people would expect one there. Maro always going on about not fighting human nature with design.

Seems like he didn’t do all his research first.
Also, this is very much just The Mimeoplasm minus G.

had to read it like 3 times to even understand what it does.
that being said, I'm doubtful this is seeing any serious constructed play.
nice jank/commander card, though.

Without knowing for sure, I would guess that Ludevic was actually introduced in flavor text.
That or Maro was just plain wrong.
On Blogatog he said he was talking about Liesa.
