I'm not sure that's true. Phosphorescent Feast was printed without the ability word in Future Sight because it didn't exist yet (added when reprinted in Eventide). But I don't think we've ever seen a card that was first printed with an ability word later reprinted without one. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but it hasn't happened yet, to my knowledge.
They could always move the goalposts and say "in standard printings" or "non-promo" etc. Unlikely as it may be. No need for snark.
I wasn't trying to be snide or snarky. my goal was for 'lol' to lighten the post.

Thanks. This is good information. I am guessing seeing Fatal Push back in the mix then.
After using a search it also appears Ancient Stirrings has a second artwork (Magic Online Promo) but it is online artwork only. Maro didn't specify this though.

My whole point isn't that there needs to be more werewolves, since we haven't seen the set yet. My point is, why split this set up into two if there is going to be overlap between them anyway?
Do you all think that this is more of a way for Wizards to test out the old multi-set block system again?
From the start they have out right said the new set system would let they do w/e in terms of setting, even having "blocks" with multiple sets on the same plane with similar mechanical themes, we even saw this with how Ravnica 3 was a "block" and both Dominaria and Eldraine where both gonna to have another set on that plane. Maro talked on this was to help with story and/or mechanical flexibility (though they seem to still be figuring this out) so until we learn more of the I'm guessing at the moment they think there is some mechanical space they wanted to play with for two sets or a story needed more than one set. As they said werewolves are gonna be different in some way this time and they might have wanted to have two sets worth to make sure there is enough of them. If transform is still involved that would limited the number of card they can do in a set, more so if they want some non-werewolf transform cards in werewolf colors.
My speculation is that Maro said they wanted to have more mechanical connection between sets and figured having two sets on the same plane in a row would help and Innistrad being both popular and has a strong mechanical/flavor base could fit over two sets and sell well. Also might have been a way to sell the Kamigawa 2 set, again Innistrad is popular so it will likely sell well and could be a safty net in case kamigawa fails*.
*not to say it will, but if a big issues of going back to kamigawa was fear it wouldn't sell well then having two sets before it that will likely sell well helps.
Thanks! I hadn't seen that kind of information so I appreciate it. Answers my question perfectly.
the token draw back did they secretly already printed it
I think they sneaked it in with Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients in other words the draw back being it dies after combat damage?
oh I offical have a prediction for the mythic cycle
(X is any number given to the card and “for number of times payed” is excluded”)
W - Gain X life or destroy/exile nonland permanent U - Draw x cards or bounce X nonland permanets B - Opponent discards x cards or destroy/exile creature or drain X life and gain X R - X damage to any target or destroy X artifacts (maybe even lands if brave enough) G - Search for X lands into hand or destroy/exile noncreature/nonland
I think they sneaked it in with Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients in other words the draw back being it dies after combat damage?
It's a possibility, considering MaRo hints have been inaccurate before, but what horror trope would it be tied to? In horror stories monsters are supposed to be these undying forces that are relentlessly aggressive, reason we got mechanics like... well, Undying. Them disappearing after getting a hit in feels pretty backwards on how horror tropes work. Maybe this could work for Spirits, but is this really a mechanic that would fit what has been historically a WU tribe of 1/1 flying weenies?

Actually, I can imagine them stapling the Geist of Saint Traft Angel exiled-at-end-of-combat trigger on a whole bunch of tokens. Temporary help bravely fighting back against the lengthening night, anyone?

I read that hint as an option -- a way to create tokens without drawback for full price, or with drawback for cheaper. Temporary vs. permanent makes most sense, IMO.
The idea of token disappearing after taking damage, seems like an illusion type thing, (though its usually as a target of spells or abilities previously) so it being an affect for spirits is possible. Maybe you get to decide if they are 1/1 or bigger for the downside of being temporary.

May I introduce you to the concept of a jump scare? Innistrad certainly knows the concept as shown in Corpse Lunge.
I agree with another poster above that this would fit Spirits quite well.
It's interesting how the drawback talks about tokens, because I don't know any drawback that couldn't also be applied to nontoken creatures. Maybe the flavor is a horror ominously shuffling towards you and it's "Create a token at the beginning of your next upkeep".
The most token-specific way I could think of wouldbe something like the Army token made by amass, where already controling one changes what you create, so maybe "Create a corpse token. (As long as you controlled it longer than any other corpse, it's a 2/2 black Zombie creature. Otherwise, it's a colorless Corpse noncreature artifact.)"

this could make sense, but they'd need language that works with token doublers and such. Not sure it'd be worth it for one 2/2 creature, but something more generalized maybe? Or something resembling the Jiang Yanggu ability?
Another idea: could be something designed to resemble transform for tokens. You get a good token if you meet the transform condition, a 0/1 otherwise?
• a character from Innistrad once mentioned in a short story finally gets a card in an Innistrad set
The wording here makes me think it might be Liesa;
She has a card, but not in an Innistrad set.
shes dead dude avacyn killed her and her crew because she busted her for siding with a demon lord
im more in line with mia she the only worshiper of the gitrog monster and only one mention in a short story
I don't think her being dead rules her out completely (part of the plotline could be her somehow being resurrected, especially since Avacyn is gone now) but I think she's been mentioned or alluded to multiple times in stories. I think worshipper of the Gitrog monster makes sense by how obscure and only mentioned once it is, and also how popular/iconic the Gitrog monster became despite being only a one-off short story legend.

if your life were to be 0 or less transform it and your life total becomes three and you lose if it doesn't transform
(Other side is you have hexproof and Serra's avatar you double your, life total every time she attacks.)
BOOM.
Card is great, too... I like her way better than the first version.
