Before previews for Midnight Hunt officially begin, I thought it would be fun to do another of my Duelist-style teasers where I give tiny hints of things to come. Note that I’m only giving you partial information.
First up, here are some things you can expect:
• two three popular mechanics previously seen on Innistrad return
• a new drawback for creature tokens that lets us create them cheaper
• a white card that could potentially draw you a card each turn
• a popular Innistrad card gets reprinted
• a curse that transforms into a creature
• two permanents that can double something every turn
• a mythic cycle with “you may pay [COST] any number of times”
• a four mana blue aura with “You control enchanted creature.”
• A popular tournament card in multiple formats gets reprinted with its fifth piece of art.
• a character from Innistrad once mentioned in a short story finally gets a card in an Innistrad set
Next, here are some rules text that will be showing up on cards:
• “If your life total would be reduced to 0 or less,”
• “This spell costs 1 less to cast for each creature you attacked with this turn.”
• “As [CARDNAME] enters the battlefield, note your life total.”
• “put a slime counter on up to one other target creature.”
• “Creature tokens you control lose all abilities and have base power and toughness 3/3.”
• “Each instant and sorcery card in your graveyard has”
• “Instants and sorcery spells you cast cost X less to cast, where X is [CARDNAME]’s power.”
• “put that many +1/+1 counters on [CARDNAME], then create twice that many 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens”
• “At the beginning of your end step, if you have exactly 13 life,”
• “You may cast any number of the copies without paying their mana costs.”
Finally, here are some creature type lines in the set:
• Creature – Hippogriff Spirit
• Creature – Human Soldier Werewolf
• Creature – Dragon Egg
• Creature – Leech Horror
• Creature – Fungus Horror
• Creature – Plant Horror
• Creature – Drake Horror
• Creature – Demon Dog
• Legendary Creature - Ooze
• Legendary Creature – Vampire Noble
Tune in Thursday, Sept. 2 on Twitch.tv/magic at 9 a.m. PT as we kick off Innistrad: Midnight Hunt previews!
a new drawback for creature tokens that lets us create them cheaper
What does that mean? It's a card? A mechanic? A new general rule?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
"two popular mechanics previously seen on Innistrad return": One of them's Flashback.
I'm currently betting that the "Each instant and sorcery card in your graveyard has" card has that sentence end with "flashback" and, a la Past in Flames, be a 6-mana mono-red enchantment.
Two popular mechanics: Flashback for sure and transform. Check!
They're really pushing card draw into white real hard aren't they?
<type> horror? I instantly think of Eldrazi hybrids but they're supposedly not a thing this time around so it's probably your "typical" horror type non-Eldrazi.
That one that notes your life total. I hope it's not another Tree of... card.

I bought Snapcasters last week, so that's almost certainly the reprint, with the original art
wait isn't snappy in standard really dangerous with all the cards from strixhaven?
Yes it is, 100%. We know it, they know it. But they don't care about banning cards anymore and it would sell boxes. So they will put it in and then ban it when Crimson Vow comes out.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
"At the beginning of your end step, if you have exactly 13 life,”
We've already seen this one. It's Triskaidekaphile or whatever it's called. The bundle promo card.
It's not Triskaidekaphile - that only cares about you having 13 cards in hand.
On another note, the "a four mana blue aura with “You control enchanted creature.”" card has gotta have a drawback such as "Sacrifice this at end of turn", "Enchant creature with mana value 3 or less", "Enchant nonblack creature", "Enchant non-Spirit, non-Zombie, non-Skeleton creature", or heck, "Enchant Spirit, Zombie, or Skeleton creature" (for a Control Undead-like card).
Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Would curse and Double faced cards (werewolf text) be classified as mechanics?
<type> horror? I instantly think of Eldrazi hybrids but they're supposedly not a thing this time around so it's probably your "typical" horror type non-Eldrazi.
Would not mind if this horror was a being that was transformed by the diminished influence of Emrakul in the innistrad moon, could be cool having a throwback to that (soo it is not totaly forgoten) with a flavor text like "Its been years since the battle in Tharaben but from times to times we are reminded of the terror lurking in what was once the heron's moon" or something like that
• a character from Innistrad once mentioned in a short story finally gets a card in an Innistrad set
where is our kraken/leviathan/octopus/serpent lover?
that's the 5th hippogriff which is crane on the top half and horse on the bottom half from 3 out of 4 of the arts
Creature – Human Soldier Werewolf
that's spooky they confirmed DFC cards for innistrad sets but this sounds like my suspicion were correct on Werewolf Pack Leader being a teaser of how werewolves are gonna work now.
Creature – Dragon Egg
watch this teaser just be a let down and its nothing more than a dragon egg reprint
thats a lot of horrors maro was horror one of the creatures types finally getting tribal support?
Mark Rosewater said there will be plenty of tribal support and love for new and old tribes! I'm excited! I'm going to lose my mind if there's a chance Slivers return. Just a heads up for that to everyone on here!
Rhyperior, I think they had to exclude werewolves from midnight hunt commander decks due to logistic issues which to me confirms they are still tied to the transform mechanics. They could have a mechanic like the eldrazi werewolves had where you paid a price to flip them but my money is that it’ll be a new mechanic to be able to transform them back and forth and they’ll have support cards that could transform some of the older werewolves if that makes sense.

Embrace the dark you call a home,
Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone
They could always move the goalposts and say "in standard printings" or "non-promo" etc. Unlikely as it may be. No need for snark.

Here's a sampling of cards with 4 arts that seem like they might be the one getting a fifth: (and here is the full list, assuming no weirdness throwing off Scryfall's count)
Considering the theme is that the Humans are looking for new forms of protection, the art from Join the Dance, and the hinted creature type I hypothesis that we are going to see large numbers of humans willingly turning themselves into werewolves.
It could be that transforming these new werewolves might require a sacrifice to trigger or you might need to sacrifice a creature to play these new werewolves.

Never forget whose grace and favor led to your success and always give your thanks, otherwise you might be doomed to loose it.
Here's a sampling of cards with 4 arts that seem like they might be the one getting a fifth: (and here is the full list, assuming no weirdness throwing off Scryfall's count)
Lightning Bolt and Counterspell have had way more than 5 arts each. Path to Exile has also had at least 5 arts. Ancient stirring has only had 2 maybe 3 but I haven't looked it up.
Fatal Push might be on the nose since there's the AER printing, the FNM promo printing, the Yargle printing, and the Double Masters borderless printing which makes 4 arts by my count.
This is not new. Every 'normal' Werewolf from Innistrad (excluding Emrakul's corruptions from Eldritch Moon) is a Human Werewolf on front face (sometimes with a third type too) and just Werewolf on back face. However, "Soldier" would make me think that perhaps it's a white Werewolf. Most Soldiers are white.
wait isn't snappy in standard really dangerous with all the cards from strixhaven?
plus even more so in pioneer since he will be legal in it if true.
What does that mean? It's a card? A mechanic? A new general rule?

EDIT: Realized my mistake. Maybe THIS one is the Tree variant?
“As [CARDNAME] enters the battlefield, note your life total.”
I would almost wager that this is going to be a Tree of Redemption/Perdition variation.
They're really pushing card draw into white real hard aren't they?

Lightning Bolt???
Counterspell???
Fatal Push???
Path to Exile???
Ancient Stirrings???

I m kinda confused with those hints
Would not mind if this horror was a being that was transformed by the diminished influence of Emrakul in the innistrad moon, could be cool having a throwback to that (soo it is not totaly forgoten) with a flavor text like "Its been years since the battle in Tharaben but from times to times we are reminded of the terror lurking in what was once the heron's moon" or something like that
where is our kraken/leviathan/octopus/serpent lover?
For reference https://mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Jenrik
wonder if it is Runo Stromkirk
Bolt had its 5th bit of art in like 2001, lol
isn't that just nothing more than Flashback and transform? if one of those is excluded the others could be morbid or undying
the illusion if targeted mechanic perhaps?
that smells like parallel lives or Snapcaster mage
the pessimistic side saids it's nothing more than power and counters
optimistic could be tokens and mana
this is really dangerous if I'm right but thoughtseize has 4 arts
lorwyn
theros
Amonkeht invocations
and Double masters full art
this would be the 5th
Mia from the gitrog monster story?
https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/magic-story/sacrifice-2016-03-23
but crossing fingers is he did a loophole and its was the bio on ... Ludevic which is code for a version 2 of him.
Rule text sections:
"your life total becomes the starting life total" is my guess
probably something similar to Eternity Vessel but its not counters nor landfall
Couldn't that just be connected to the legend mentioned in this teaser?
maro...we have gone over this stop putting in stuff we already i know its Flashback and you know it.
so how will this (legendary) wizard creature gain power?
"you win the game"
but really it likely "you lose the game"
Creature types:
that's the 5th hippogriff which is crane on the top half and horse on the bottom half from 3 out of 4 of the arts
that's spooky they confirmed DFC cards for innistrad sets but this sounds like my suspicion were correct on Werewolf Pack Leader being a teaser of how werewolves are gonna work now.
watch this teaser just be a let down and its nothing more than a dragon egg reprint
thats a lot of horrors maro was horror one of the creatures types finally getting tribal support?
now then
Good doggy hope its mono red and good for Rin and Seri, Inseparable
we had legendary slime before but will this truely end the wait for ooze tribal legend (though Aeve was the closet so far)
wait I thought Runo or Edgar 2.0 wasn't gonna be till Crimson vow?
THREE mechanics will be returning.

Fatal Push is currently at 4 arts and isn't as unlikely as the rest of this list, but I expect they'd do morbid over revolt.
Maybe a Past in Flames reprint? Where the word that follows "has" is flashback?
Edit: struck a couple because of language referring to regeneration.

It could be that transforming these new werewolves might require a sacrifice to trigger or you might need to sacrifice a creature to play these new werewolves.
Of that list, Cryptic Command, Blood Moon, Thoughtseize are popular tournament picks. Blood Moon would be especially flavorful in Innistrad.

No. More than 4 pieces of art.
No. More than 4 pieces of art.
Possible, but would require Revolt to be in the set. Doesn't seem likely, but not impossible either.
No. More than 4 pieces of art.
No. Only one piece of art (two counting MTGO).
