Not a fan of the old bordered Planeswalkers. Wall of text. I think the old border look could've still been used w/ the current templating of Planeswalkers. The starting loyalty box could still fit w/o breaking the text boxes border.
The whole idea of it is to give us Planeswalkers reimagined before they would have been given errata to support how they would look in the past.
Planeswalkers as if they came out in Ice Age. It's cute. The templating is atrocious, and reminds me of being a kid and having a hard time understanding what cards like Storm Elemental, Ice Cauldron, and Arcum's Sleigh did. Imagine reading these planeswalkers with a 2nd grade reading comprehension.
So they tickled my nostalgia there, but not necessarily in a good way. I love the look of the cards, but people are probably gonna look them up on their phone over squinting for those itty bitty words.
The aesthetics of Ice Age block were excellent. Use them! But the templating is not something to imitate.
The art and flavor text for that Johannes Voss secret lair has some serious deviantArt ca. 2007 vibes. Haikus don't have titles. Maybe should've gone with 5 cards and done a Tanka instead? Also, no matter how you look at it, that is not a carpet of flowers...
The Thomas M. Baxa one is neat. Apparently the guy has a thing for glowing chests.
I like all the clean, circular shapes in the arts for the "Math is for Blockers" SL. Thragtusk, Brazen Borrower are my favourites. Meandering Towershell though, oof ... they're really trolling customers with that one.
with a kamigawa focus lair that’s probably triple confirms kamigawa neon dynasty.
As an aside, I wonder if there's a story behind how they settled on the templating for those planeswalkers, and if they'll share it. Like "we got in touch with some of the people who did templating on the original Legends cards and asked them how they'd template planeswalkers if they had been printed in 1994, and this is what they came up with!"
They were almost definitely influenced in part by Pringlesman's Bohemian Cube from 2018, which replaces the rules text and art of modern cube cards with old-school text and art. As Pringlesman suggests, browsing this list by visual spoiler is the best way to experience this cube.
Bought a foil Secret Lair: Artist Series: Johannes Voss box. Because you know, for the new beautiful Sliver Hivelord art! My third purchase I’ve ever made in this series!

But I still kinda like these.

The pattern looks vaguely Fibonacci-like, and there are some perfect squares and multiples of 3, but I'm honestly lost as to what the pattern is.
