In my opinion, having a terrible selection of cards is exactly how you would want to do a convention-specific secret lair. If this sort of secret lair had the great henge or parallel lives or some similarly valuable card, people would be blowing a gasket.
I will agree that a cat-themed secret lair could have had more cat-themed cards, though.
That's truly a great point. You're paying for the art here, not the powerful card.
People will pay for this "art"? They would have to pay me to take it.

STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Yeaaah ... I get that (although Heirloom Blade is clearly the odd one out here), but that doesn't explain the cat theme or the classic Japanese art style.
Really? I tought the burn spell was the real oddity since not only doesn't have a japanese theme, but doesn't really makes that much sense in EDH either (In fact I never seen this card played at any level)
The other 3 are actually great choices for a tribal cat deck, and they are all in-color for Ahrabo, Roar of Wild . Chain Lightning ? Not so much.
I am actually curious how they decide on the list of cards they put in these. To me this one is underwhelming, even though I sort of like the art (at least, I like it a bit more than the "Box of Rocks" lair). But hey, what's great is no one is forcing me to buy it, so I can just skip this one and not care that it exists and that other folks might enjoy it.
I don't think this needs more actual cats because that's what OMG Kitties! was about and this is obviously supposed to be a different thing. That said, I do think it's kinda weird to do another cat themed lair (w or w/o actual cats). Meh, they can't all be winners.
I am all about the last two.
The first one I had to see the other four to make sense of the art choice.
The second one (Generous Gift) has me on the fence. I like the art, but I do not like it for magic as it is too "real life".
You got to understand, my sister had a cat that just LOVED her and would allow herself to be dressed up and pushed around in a stroller. So cats in costumes with toys were essentially part of my childhood. My childhood was happily devoid of Real Shivan Dragons, Eldrazi, and Phyrexians... though I did once find a piece of wood that looked like Red Mana Battery and I tried summoning a Raging Goblin and a bright red sports car sped into the parking lot...so that was the biggest M:tG overlap my life ever had...
...aside from teaching it to kids and a parent said they didn't want their kid playing because of the monsters and demons summoned. I told her we all know it is just a game and we aren't really summoning demons, to which she said "I don't want me kid to learn how to summon demons" to which I knee-jerk replied "I have been playing this game for longer than your kid has been alive. Do you think if I could really summon demons I'd be here right now?"
It surprised both of us but it very much ended the conversation and I am strangely comfortable with the fact that I would not be working with children if I commanded a demon horde...it just sort of makes sense. I could do so much with Demonic Hordes or an Archfiend of Depravity, especially Kardur, Doomscourge...of course a lot of the demons want sacrifices or life payments and I got a sinking feeling I would be a 1/1 (so Pestilence Demon would be a terrible idea for myself/friends/family/neighbors/schools/nursing-homes in the immediate area plus I think we've ALL had enough Pestilence for this lifetime IRL). Though I think we'd all aim for Elixir of Immortality, Voltaic Key, and Time Vault.

I certainly wouldn't. All secret lairs are absolute trash anyway. But, the point is, the person that does buy this (wherever they are) isn't doing it for some chase card. It's strictly for the pictures...as terrible as they are. I hope they keep doing Secret Lairs this way to encourage people not to buy them so they can die the death in fire they deserve.

EDIT: oh right, we still got Rin and Seri, inseparable but still....

I have no problem with the art, it's good, if a bit strange. That Generous Gift art is giving me all kinds of Dumbo "pink elephants" nostalgia/horror.
*sarcastic voice* big surprise *sarcastic voice*
this plus it’s other drops will be shown off tomorrow.
