Finally this is the set I've been wanting to see since they announced this years set. Love the Arlinn art and hopefully she more related to the main plot of the story this time.

I love innistrad. I love werewolves, zombies, vampires. Gothic horror. Eldritch horror. Everything.
Yet...
Im just not. I just do not care any more.
We barely digested strixhaven before mh2, then forgotten realms shortly after that. Its difficult to care any more at all. It use to be overwhelming, it use to be frustrating, and now... now it just... i dont care.
Theres no time to enjoy anything any more. No time to acquire new cards. No time to test them. Cant even remember half of them any more. We get a week or two to draft and we're already on to the next thing, and the next, and the next.

Honestly right there with you. I honestly straight up forgot Kaldheim existed earlier today. Did that set even have a story? Did Strixhaven?
Since the beginning of the year, we’ve had Kaldheim, Strixhaven, Time Spiral Remastered, Adventures In Forgotten Realms, Modern Horizons 2, and Jumpstart 2. Nearly one new set a month.

You're definitely no alone. I just can't keep up with all of the new releases and cards, or even the story. I wasn't a huge fan of Innistrad, due to it coming out around the time all media was like "VAMPIRES, ZOMBIES, WEREWOLVES, VAMPIRES VS. WEREWOLVES" and I was plain tired of it at that time, still a little tired of it.
I'm definitely paying less attention to Magic, it also could be I haven't played a game of it 9 months due to Covid and home life (renting from family sucks).
It doesn't help that I extremely loathe UB and dislike the D&D set based on crossovers entering Magic in general. There's too much stuff being released between Secret Lairs, 2x-3x as many sets coming out, multiple booster types (seen 2 new boosters come out the last two years), and we have another set being rammed into this year for no reason. That doesn't even mention Magic trying to push other forms of media and how one of those has already failed, and it's quite likely the rest won't do well either.
Between not playing and not able to keep up as much Magic is certainly losing its luster.
I'm looking forward to messing with Jumpstart Horizons on Arena but I didn't really consider it a real set to be excited for spoilers in a way that would make this less exciting for me. Like...Arena is a fun way to mess around for sealed and draft, and I halfheartedly play Brawl, but I'd never take it seriously enough to let it overshadow real magic lol. I've enjoyed a lot of new cards from this year, but Innistradx2 were the only sets I was actively excited about.
Edit: I guess my point is, this is actually exciting news to me, and I won't let it be dampened by the rest of the mtg stuff going on like the rest of you have
Considering the Innistrad sets are the only ones I've been anticipating all year, aside from MH2, this should have been good news. But Arena exclusive cards killed my enthusiasm for this game.
Its the "if some is good more is better" mentality currently at Hasbro/WotC. You can tell they have been directed to double sales by this non stop stream of product. Its going to jump up and bite them in the rear very soon. The thing is people keep buying. So if that happens why should they stop?

Product fatigue is a thing.
I'm just looking forward to the flavour, the artwork, and the atmosphere of Innistrad post-Emrakul-in-the-moon-war-of-the-spark shenanigans. Or some sort of a comprehensive story aspect because lately it's been shaky at most.

It certainly is.
My hopes for a coherent story, or even a mildly interesting one, are extremely low.
Since the mediocre wrap of war of the spark it feels like theyve been playing at the idea of no story at all. Just pump out cards. Even world building feels as if its fallen by the wayside.

Kaldheim did, but it wasn't very well written. Strixhaven's "story" felt like it was written by a high school English lit student.
I think the backlash from War of the Spark scared the folks at WOTC. Rightfully so, because that arc's conclusion felt extremely rushed and anti-climatic, like War of the Worlds/Day the Earth Stood Still anti-climatic. And many other things.

The storylines are EXTREMELY generic fantasy at this point, to a laughable level, so the quality is automatically very low.
And with just 1 set per storyline its also super condense and further simplified.
War of the Spark had a Masterpiece of a Trailer and people hyped up so much, that the story they delivered was guaranteed to fail, outside of a miracle.
It had everything going for it, a multi-set storyline, extreme odds and character involved in which basically everyone "could" die, but basically nobody did.
To fully embrace the stakes, Nicol-Bolas had to "win" and deliver a massive defeat, then Magic could have been back on track to deliver more "epic" stories, instead of these short-story Sunday-Cartoon ones.

The build-up was phenomenal without a doubt. I honestly thought that Bolas was going to win in WOTS, and a lot of core GW planeswalkers would be snuffed out more so than in Hour of Devastation, but once they announced the end of the story (it honestly felt like it could've gone on for another year or so) in Ravnica III, and we had an idea of what the result was going to be, that's when it felt rushed and improperly executed. It was probably due to the player base fatigue with the Gatewatch as a whole, and I'll admit I felt it too, but the detailed storytelling on the WOTC site made up for that.
Honestly, the character development they gave to Jace, and I know ppl like to ***** on Jace, and Vraska in Ixalan was utterly incredible. It actually got me back into creative writing. Now their attempts at a story is laughable. How they made Jace appear in Zendikar Rising almost felt like they regressed him into an adolescent. That's a shame. Undoing all that development in the blink of an eye...
The Eldraine arc with the twins is supposedly the start of a new large arc, but I'd like to actually know where and how. Right now their "story" is nothing substantial compared to what it used to be. (In fairness this is the early stages of the arc so hopefully it'll have more substance in the near future)
I'm sure Midnight Hunt will probably feature Nahiri, Sorin, and maybe one or two of the other former Gatewatch crew but wouldn't hold my breath. Maybe we'll see what Emrakul's influence--or lack there of--has had on Innistrad/the multiverse as a whole since she was locked up in it.
Magic: the Gathering is no longer fueled by passion. It’s fueled by profits. This isn’t a small company that loves what it does anymore. It’s a company that answers to HASBRO and their profit demands and cash cow milking.
A strong, cohesive, and well executed story is mutually exclusive to WOTC’s current business model. Such a story takes time, effort, and money and provides very little of the latter in return. It’s never going to happen.
I was already fatigued and then WOTC had to say that they're raising prices starting with this set to make sure that I stop buying. I'll take a look again when LOTR set gets here next year. Until then, I'm done.
