Looks like we have a manland cycle in the set. This one doesn't look too good compared to Faceless Haven unless you need the ability, but it should still prove useful.
Absolutely love the art... it's like an optical illusion... optical, get it... But seriously, the art used negative space as an actual optical illusion to fool the brain into thinking there is a beholder-like silhouette.
I think it's good. It etb untapped early in the game and is designed as an aggro creature land. So for me since it doesn't fit in the same decks as the tapped ones, I'd put it better than Lavaclaw and Spawning Pool, which are cards that see no play at all.
A monoblack aggro deck will have to choose between this creature land and Mutavault. This is the land we should compare it with. And it's all about what the archetype is about, tribal or not, blitz or high curve, devotion or good stuff, etc...

This land cycle definitely feels like the type of cycle that you can swap out 4 basic lands with in a monocolour deck and be completely fine with. Pretty much any aggro body can be clutch late-game, so these manlands should see play.
At least the lavaclaw land can take out large creature if it needs to. These man lands are super depressing.
All the lands you listed enter the battlefield tapped. This one can enter untapped.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
At least the lavaclaw land can take out large creature if it needs to. These man lands are super depressing.
All the lands you listed enter the battlefield tapped. This one can enter untapped.
And to build on your already great point, these are mono-colored activation costs, the others require multiple colors of mana. (outside of Spawning Pool and ilk, and I don't see us getting Treetop Village in Standard, again, anytime soon) Plus, I'd say Standard Magic is definitely at a time when incidental graveyard hate that's main-deckable should not be overlooked.
The module art is awesome. The other art is classy, and I'm not gonna knock it. But that module art is just exactly what I love in fantasy art. Way better than what we normally get. No wonder: it's DiTerlizzi. He's one of the greatest artists from Magic's earlier days. It's a shame the promos look so weird, cause we don't get illustrations that cool very often.
There needs to be some clarification here. Yes it CAN come into play untapped but it's not a guarantee. It can still enter as tapped especially if it's later in the game.
Take it for what you will. It's limited fodder more than anything else at this point.

In terms of power level of black manlands
First: Creeping Tar Pit (3 mana 3/2 with unblockable)
Second: Hissing Quagmire (3 mana for a 2/2 death touch)
Third: Spawning Pool (2 mana 1/1 with regenerate, a great blocker)
Fourth: Lavaclaw Reaches (3 mana 2/2 with shivan dragon pump.)
Dead last: Hive of the Eye Tyrant (a 4 mana 3/3 with menace)
At least the lavaclaw land can take out large creature if it needs to. These man lands are super depressing.

repeatable graveyard hate attacking with some evasion with a very low opportunity cost to add to the deck.
it's really fine.

this is a cycle.... we already have 3 of them.
and the effect is "on attack" not "on hit" which makes it even better.
Ok cool, missed that part. The attack trigger improves this a lot.
