Kev Walker is one of the few artists still working today who started at MtG with the old border. His work looks great in that frame. Now we have both Generous Gift and Beast Within in old border.
Geez I really dislike the white text on white cards... it's like the Italian mafia of white ties on white suits. It's really hard to read. I don't think it was like that in the past (or if it was, there was a shadow behind the letters to make them more readable. All the other colors can have the white text on the throw-back borders except white.
I get it, it's to show it's different, like the purple expansion symbol for cards on the list or when Time Spiral first starting doing it for the extra cards. But still, doesn't make it easy to swallow.

The solution back then was to make the white on the border darker so its more readable. The drop shadow was a bit more prounounced but also not much more than this card already has. It's just an issue of the white in white cards being too light to be readable. The white back then was more like a slightly muddy ivory color
The shading on the border needs to be darkened a bit (not much), and if I recall the older style the drop shadow was edged a bit closer to the white font to make it more readable.
Minor aesthetic tweaks but still more inviting to the eye. Feels more vibrant and...fantasy than the standard modern/frontier frames we have now.
