The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I almost expected if Braids was ever reprinted to be in Standard/Modern she'd be uncommon.
Seeing another skeleton I can only ask for Skeleton tribal at some point. I think skeletons are extremely underused in fantasy in general. Always zombies and vampires zombies vampires, there's other undead.
The fact that Kaldra was annihilated during the creation of the fifth sun, however, makes this an "alternative history" card...
Tbf Wizards barely even know's their own history. I wouldn't be surprised if they are having to relearn everything after people have been giving them grief for getting things wrong. That or they errata them away like the Tezz book.
Also Moons of Mirrodin. Not suns. I still hate everyone calls them suns.

Kaldra Compleat not having Lifelink will ensure that Batterskull will still have a slot in every Stoneforge Mystic deck, but it's one heck of a clock for SFM decks, especially since combo will be speeding up after Modern Horizons 2 is released.
Kaldra Compleat's equip cost is through the roof (unlike Batterskull's), so that's pretty harsh punishment for losing the Germ token. As a result, tutoring for Batterskull or a Sword is less risky against certain decks (although tutoring for a Sword is increasingly overrated if you can't stick any equipment carriers), although Kaldra Compleat is at its best against combo decks.
SFM has actually been losing a foothold in Modern lately (R/x Prowess kills it too well and too consistently, UWx Control keeps managing to deal with it in time, midrange-combo decks keep being faster than it, Tron decks go bigger than it fast, Colossus Hammer Time outspeeds it, Batterskull isn't outsizing Scourge of the Skyclaves if it comes down too late...). Guess Kaldra Compleat will give SFM a heck of a shot in the arm instead of breaking it.
...Ironically, might Green Tron want Kaldra Compleat? It's got Haste, it's indestructible, it blocks quite well, it dodges all their board wipes, it at least has 5 power, it has enough evasion to get at opposing Karn, the Great Creator, Green Tron can actually pay the equip cost...although not gaining life is an absolute bummer and is what has driven others to spam Wurmcoil Engine and me to spam Thragtusk.
It doesn't even need to be the original Kaldra - the card is literally just all of Kaldra's artifacts on a germ. Instead of the old Kaldra having been compleated, it could just be a new, compleat Kaldra.
Or maybe Kaldra, even if destroyed, is simply reborn every time his artifacts are united, and this time they've compleated him.
Let's be real - even if it's a retcon, it would far the worst or most ridiculous Mirrodin retcon ever. The entire original Mirrodin canon is already in tatters.
The fact that Kaldra was annihilated during the creation of the fifth sun, however, makes this an "alternative history" card...
Unless the artifacts were atomized by the Fifth Dawn, it's still possible. This is Phyrexia, after all; working with metal scraps is second nature to them.
Just figured out that Godo, Bandit Warlord can tutor for Kaldra Compleat, and if you equip Kaldra Compleat to Godo a Turn later, the duo deal 21 damage on an otherwise empty board by the end of your next turn: often enough to OTK.

Green Tron definitely wants this I think, at least mine certainly does. Don't forget that with Living Weapon, the initial 7 also gets you the first equip for no extra mana. I am trying to think where this ends up and what i cut, but I definitely think it's in.

My thought as well, artifact-necromancy.
Funny enough I might get rid of the kaldra pieces in my cats deck and replace them with this

It has been many years since I've read that book. Might go back and do that. But was Kaldra "annihilated"? I recall them being hit by the moon and thus being carried off into orbit but I don't recall anything hinting that it was damaged in any way.

The banlist is just a representative of the kind of gameplays that are against the spirit of the social philosophy of the format and Braids still represent that pretty well, doesn't add a positive gameplay in most casual settings.
You have rule zero that allow you to play with Braids or ban whatever your playgroup o playgroups dislike. Remember that EDH it's a democratical format, flexible, and rules can he shaped and tweaked even without RC official approval.
She looks better in the retro frame, but this is quite a surprise. Kaldra becomes the thing that the equipment gave all in one so I'd say that's a flavour win right there. If you're complaining about the equip cost, just use one of those auto equip spells that people used for Colossus Hammer (Magnetic Theft par exemple)
It's cool actually have a representation in card form than anything else.

Glissa was able to restore the Kaldra artifacts and grew a specialized germ creature in the flesh vats beneath the surface. Phyrexia's newest champion will either grow strong enough to rival the original Kaldra Champion in power, or it will be defeated and someone stronger will claim the artifacts. Glissa is content that, either way, Phyrexia will prevail and improve.

Let's start the preview day right with Braids' triumphant entry into Modern, another Reassembling Skeleton-type, and the Phyrexians once again trying to appeal to Stoneblade players.

Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)

To be fair, we've never seen a body of Kaldra because they don't want to print the token.

Kaldra Compleat luckily dodges Kolaghan's Command (one of Batterskull's bigger weaknesses). Note that the Germ it's attached to can still be Dismembered, exiled (e.g. Path to Exile), or bounced (e.g. Teferi, Time Raveler).

and the abilities are basically meaningless, unless the opponent plans on blocking or attacking into it on the ground.
Its simply not that great.

As a 7-drop played on Turn 5 or later, I agree that there are better 7-drops out there.
The main value of Kaldra Compleat is how easy it is to get this guy out on Turn 3 with either Stoneforge Mystic or the Tron.
Remember, Reality Smasher wins games for Eldrazi Tron, and it has worse protection and ability to off creatures it damages.
