2 mana 5/5 turn 2 (playing a triome to get easy Domain with fetchlands).
----
Funny enough theres just so much business at 2 mana, but it packs abilities that really really BADLY want to make it playable beyond it being a vanilla otherwise.
Probably better than goyf if you just want the stats.
Triome into shockland means a 5/5 on turn 2. Not bad though that tempo lost doing that likely won't do too well.
Shockland into shockland does a pretty good job at making this a 4/4 while still letting you play Nactal, and then you play the triome on turn 3. And heck, maybe you drop a Scion of Draco that turn, so you get a 5/5, 3/3, and a 4/4 flyer all with with hexproof, vigilance, first strike, trample, and lifelink. That's... a beefy board.
With this and the other green card spoiled that exiles cards from graveyard, I guess graveyard hate is moving to green? I don't remember there being much graveyard hate prior to MH2.

Oldest graveyard hate card in Green is Ground Seal, originally printed in Odyssey over 20 years ago. It's been around.
Just pointing out this actually caps at 6/6 with wastes. I really like it in the Goyf slot though. Can shrink Goyfs and slow graveyard strategies, is not dead to gravehate, and can even support your own goyf's growth or Madness cards.

Wastes doesn't have a land type so it won't affect it.

That's more like an extension of shroud though. I'm talking about specifically exiling cards from a graveyard. And yes, there may have been green cards here and there that did this (though I can't recall any), but that's not the same as one set having this effect in a colour twice. Just how there being green creatures with flying doesn't mean flying is in-colour for green.

The numbers began going up with Scavenging Ooze from the original Commander precons.

Theres at least one fringe example of basically any effect in any color, that doesnt justify it at all for the color pie.
Right now, A LOT of blacks mechanics move to green, especially with the BG (golgari) color combination, green gets more and more effects that are traditionally much more black.
Green had a lot of mechanic of black forever and it just gets more and more.
Graveyard exile effects in green are very "rare" (rarity wise even) , but as the graveyard became such a big deal, green just randomly got graveyard exile effects thrown in everywhere as a catch-all in case some graveyard mechanic becomes relevant (so the format just happens to have maindeck cards that "by accident" also exile cards from graveyards).
This just feels like one of those weird plug and play mechanic cards that was designed by committee and iterated on until everyone lost sight of what it was supposed to be in the first place. I don't think it's bad or anything, I just don't get the flavor and none of it seems intuitive to me.
Also - do people really think it is worth playing off-color shocks/triomes just to make this bigger sooner? Turn 1 Temur triome turn 2 godless shrine just seems a bit magical christmas land and like a really awful mana base if you are playing aggro and don't need all the colors for other things. I do kind of like the Scion of Draco deck/combo though.

Absolutely, its design by excel sheets and checking boxes.
Something needed graveyard exile and this vanilla got it.

With fechlands its actually really easy to tutor the 2 lands you need for full Domain, and you really just need 1 triome to make it happen.
People did that for a long time already with shocklands only, to fuel up the Domain spells and 1 drops like Kird Ape and friends.
Having a manabase thats basically full of fetchlands and very little actual lands works surprisingly well for a deck that can fully function on 2 mana already.

The first card I played with that exiled cards from a graveyard was green: Night Soil. Green has exiled from its own graveyard a lot, but they've been moving steadily away from weird hate like Ground Seal, Wheel of Sun and Moon, and Krosan Reclamation since the first commander precons a decade ago. Not that this card is interesting but there's a lot of precedent now

Today Brad talks about his time in Magic R&D, working on Modern Horizons 2. He's also trying very hard to get Zoo back to the top tiers of Modern.

Also we need a Kavu legend.

Tribal Flames was a thing for Zoo decks.
To hurt yourself is also beneficial if you want a big shadow.
So this will quite likely see play in such Zoo decks, but its basically just that 2 mana 5/5 and if your deck wants that, this does it.
