Somewhere out there, at some point, someone will actually use their real paper Black Lotus after activating Garth's ability just for the effect it will have on everyone nearby.

Crazy people trying to sell Garth for €65 upward on Cardmarket...
This might be a €10 Mythic on a good day...
I m sure that there will people preordering at €30+ but those will sadly realize that a 5 mana creature that you need to tap to use is way too vulnerable to modern and only playable in some commander decks, then after 1 year it will sell for €8,50 just wait the wales get what they can on release.
and even with even all that it's Quite a fragile infinite and lots of hoops to get it assembled And of course Garth himself cost WUBRG to cast and is summon sick without the haste enabler.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

Eh. You talk like the actual print run of MH2 doesn't matter. If everything goes fine sure, he'll be a cheap mythic. Otherwise we'll get another jumpstart.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.

well unless wotc changes the print run and model of it (in comparison to MH1(printed on demand)) then there should be enough suply to justify low prices on non-chase/extremely playable/non-fetchland cards

how many times do i have to tell you guys Jumpstart terrible print was because of the Pandemic and its getting better and better supply.
the Pandemic is way better today it should be a little bit easier to do a print to demand set.

Is your LGS in a rough part of town?
From what I heard on the Magic Historian about why some supermarket chains like Target and Walmart have stopped selling sports cards and TCGs, every part of town is rough these days...
People saying he's going to be the most expensive card ever and get banned are hilarious he's pretty terrible, even in commander. You have to assemble WUBRG and then wait a whole round of the table (hoping he survives) to generate one copy of a mediocre spell or generate 3 additional manner - so what you already have WUBRG to cast all your spells. Brain geyser and regrowth are the more likely copies to make at that point in the game.
I'm sorry, WHAT??

you're definitely overrating him
my research indicates that Deadeye Navigator is the only one flicker card that can do the infinite without other requirements and cons
here's my examples
Eldrazi Displacer makes him enter tapped (plus Black lotus can't produce C)
flicker and other one shot flickers also require the regrowth part of Garth and that's a struggle or if a ETB Flicker it requires another Flicker effect
Brago, King Eternal needs a specific condition for the flicker and only one trigger per turn
Nephalia Smuggler Requires tapping so need to untap it as well plus too much mana since black lotus only makes 3
Conjurer's Closet is too slow since its only endstep and once
Roon of the Hidden Realm or Mistmeadow Witch it doesn't bring the creature back till endstep
Aminatou, the Fateshifter Only can do it once per turn and also requires another flicker effect and requires Oath of Teferi to do it.

Read Arena when I was 12 years old, a month after it's release. First and only MTG novel I read. Nostalgiagasm.

Found the play test card all that copying of famous named cards reminds me of: Tibalt the Chaotic.
Yeah, turns out the guy in post #6 was waaaay overrating him.

If they had made tokens of the cards he generates, the tokens would be worth more than Garth.

Update: Garth gets two frame treatments: the sketch frame, and the old border.
I can automatically confirm ye-oldie border fits a lot better for garth here

Yep, that’s the exact card I was thinking of!
