We're starting off Modern horizons 2 preview season with a card for those multicolor burn/prowess decks in Modern and Legacy... or mono-white if it can't get rid of Chalice of the Void anymore.
So this always costs 1 mana more than what it can exile, and it can never exile Primeval Titan, Wurmcoil Engine, or half of Tron's planeswalkers...pretty meh. Unless I play that few creatures or I fancy my odds with Snapcaster Mage that much, I'd rather play Skyclave Apparition.

Don't forget to count the white pip as well. You can exile a 1 mana permanent for just W.

So this counts as 1 if you cast it for the one white but nothing for the x cost? that doesn't make sense to me.

Converge counts the colors you use to pay in the mana value of the card.
You can pay X = 10 in monewhite and you will still only capable of exiling cards with 1 or less mana value.
second done my homework with converge it’s always 1 cmc or less no matter what since you always spend white so you can blast those 1 cmc stuff out of the water.
oh and for newbies never go beyond 4=X because converge always stops at 5 with 5-colors in magic.

Ah ok, well that turns it into something that can work as a sideboard card (even at sorcery speed) instead of being a limited removal.
The upsides this has over stuff like Abrupt Decay is that it sacrifices pure efficiency for (limited) scalability. When you need it to be a 1 drop that removes 1 (or 0) mana stuff, it can do that. With the right mana base or even just some "tap for any color" lands/abilities, you can scale it up to 5 mana, which Abrupt Decay can't hit. It's not going to be as efficient as Abrupt because it's more flexible, but sometimes that flexibility is what you need more than the efficiency.
Should really be instant, as sorcery speed removal is clunky and bad (as we have so much instant speed removal at this point, all the sorcery ones cancel themselves out).
Otherwise this could be a really great card, really really needed instant speed, then it would be an all-star removal to rival some of the other options.
As it is, its a hard sell unless you really need the effect.

There isn't much that's 5 cmc in Modern - off the top of my head, I can think of Niv-Mizzet Reborn, Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, Reality Smasher, Thragtusk, Elder Gargaroth, Glorybringer, Obosh, the Hate-Piercer, Yorion, Sky Nomad, Jegantha, the Wellspring, and tapped-out Batterskull. And Elder Gargaroth and Glorybringer see play in only one deck (RG Ponza), Niv-Mizzet Reborn similarly sees play in only one deck, Batterskull is tough to nail profitably, Thragtusk has been reduced to a Green Tron non-mandatory role player, Obosh/Yorion/Jegantha Companion decks probably don't play their Companion in half or more of their games, and Eldrazi variants of Death and Taxes have fallen out of vogue (so Reality Smasher only sees play in Eldrazi Tron right now). Compared to Prismatic Ending, Skyclave Apparition isn't missing out on much, and I'll pay the price of my opponent getting a token with removal or aggression for better mana efficiency and versatility (both for the same mana cost and in the deckbuilder). Oh gosh, I just realized that you need all 5 colours of mana to boot 5-drops with this card. One potential 5-colour market, Niv-Mizzet Reborn Midrange, is not that interested in a mono-coloured card.

No.

Ah, I did misread the card. Given that we can consistently get removal like Abrupt Decay or Fatal Push (or even Eliminate) that punch above their mana value, I'd still rather run Skyclave Apparition.

well to tell you guys immediately your failing to see the best target it can get rid of easily
and It’s called chalice of the void and maybe the same can be said for death's shadow

2 mana in a 2 color deck to exile any 2 drop ever.
it's going to be played in eternal formats for sure.
it also removes Chalice of the void and does that while avoiding issues with the CMC being blocked by it.... lol.
great little utility card.

I never got why Isolate sees/saw any sideboard play in Modern. While some decks really are that 1-drop-centric (e.g. R/x Prowess, Death's Shadow Jund, Colossus Hammer Time), Isolate (and therefore Prismatic Ending on cheap mode) honestly feels like a badly meta-specific waste compared to running Path to Exile/Condemn (is booting Abundant Growth/Hardened Scales/Colossus Hammer/Sigarda's Aid really that valuable, and what 0-1-cmc artifact besides Chalice of the Void, artifact creatures, Grafdigger's Cage, Hardened Scales's stuff, Hammer Time's stuff, and Turn 1 Expedition Map/Chromatic Star/Chromatic Sphere is the opponent unable to pop in response?) or Fragmentize (say Hardened Scales or Hammer Time really is that prominent - wouldn't you like the ability to boot Ensnaring Bridge, Liquimetal Coating, and Blood Moon?)
