Whilst it's initially disappointing to see Llolth as a walker rather than a God - does this mean wizards are expanding her lore to be able to planeswalk away from the D&D multiverse and into the MTG realms? Perhaps in the future we'll see the spider queen interfering in Innistrad or the like.
That's a good point in respect to how few big baddies Magic has going on these days, such ones on the levels of past end-boss stuff like Yawgmoth or Nicol-Bolas. This could be an opportunity for both francizes to really start to overlap and synergize.

To get it out of the way: This doesn't mean that these characters (like our one true queen Lolth) have a Planeswalker Spark. You won't be seeing Lolth traveling to Strixhaven to hang out with Witherbloom students any time soon.
However, we wanted to make these characters as cool as they could possibly be, and Planeswalkers are a regular part of new Magic sets - so the Planeswalker card type made a great fit! We hope you enjoy, and we'll share more when the preview season begins!

That feeling when you post them saying Lolth was picked as a planeswalker for "rule of cool" and nothing related about the lore early on yet no one seemly can read.

I would have though Drizzit would have haste. Also, Lolth has no elf abilities? But interesting. Also, rangers are scouts? I know funky with halflings rather than Kithkin. Hey, if I get colored gnomes, Im happy.
Well, the time period they appear to be focusing on is pre-Spellplague. During that time period Tiamat had lost much of her power; while Lolth has been a greater goddess of evil for some time, Tiamat has fluctuated in power level.
When the Mulhorandi pantheon bit it, Tiamat lost her ststus as a greater diety and was instead physically located in The Nine Hells as a devil lord.
This appears to be the version of Tiamat we're looking at - when she wasn't actually a diety.

No you can't have my collection; it's my kids' college fund and my retirement.
And my kids' kids' college fund, et al. LMAO
Honestly, out of all the IPs we've explored so far, this one makes the most sense, and is probably the only one I would accept if I had made the call on it myself.
Have to remember that in D&D any mid-level spellcaster (Wizard, Sorc, Druid, Cleric etc.) can planeswalk easily, though only within the D&D multiverse. No spark is needed, just access to the right spell.

Honestly, I wouldn't be against Lolth getting to the mtg planes. She'd be an interesting big bad
