the scaling is waaaaay to slow.
8 mana for 10 damage to 2 targets it the highest one could maybe hope for.
that could get really out of hand with high mana combos, so you could simply kill the entire table in a commander game or something.
but the card is very inneficient for constructed.
This is just EDH chaff really, where it's cute that it can kill all your opponents at once if you have a load of mana. I just don't see it elsewhere, doesn't work with the cheating spells out of the graveyard plan, and costs a truckload to get going, ramp decks don't tend to be short of win conditions, and often don't even play red anyway. Curious how it plays in Limited, its floor is 5 mana deal 5 which is fine of course, but late game this is basically just win the game.
triggering Rowan like this and to do that....they kill will.
and probably do a similar deal with her to what yawgmoth did with gerrard “kill urza and I will resurrect Hanna” which was a roost, probably work with them for this case.
This is a little disappointing. 5 mana for 5 damage is fine, but on a mythic it sure isn't great. Even 8 mana for 10x2 damage makes this a better Urza's Rage. 11 mana for 15x3 is great, but at this point you could likely pay that much mana to copy a myriad of burn spells for the same mana and do as much, if not more.
If feel like this was a "why not?" kind of card when it came to the mana cost.

Are there even Phyrexians confirmed in the setting yet? So far I only encountered the Eldrazi-cosplayers that go by Oriq. And Defend the Campus strongly implies they are after the Snarl's terrible crayon-y powers.

Heck, every day I wake up, I don't go out and kill people - and I'm rewarded by not having legions of enemies! Amazing how that works.
Although ninjas are experts of camouflage and concealment, they are actually horrible liars. This means that no matter where you are, you can shout out, “Are there any ninjas here?” and if there’s a ninja within earshot, he’ll be compelled to respond.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

I’m not even sure I’d play this in EDH, by the time I have enough mana to burn out the table using Crackle with Power it’s very likely that I also have enough mana to burn out the table using Comet Storm, and I’d prefer comet storm since it’s way more versatile.

My long-winded and all-encompassing story theory:
This is a prequel to Kaldheim. The whole point of the story is Exius using the Blood Avatar as a distraction to access the Mystical Archives and learn the most forbidden spell of all: The Elderspell.
He'll use it on one of the brothers. This will kill the afflicted brother (or maybe since both brothers share a spark, it won't be as fatal as it was on WotS), leaving Liliana to finish her character arc and use whatever means of resurrection she was planning on using on Gideon at the Kenrith.
Lukka's real job is to transport the half-spark to New Phyrexia, so they can study it and exploit it to create a planar bridge, leading to the events of Kaldheim.
This is going to be the new go-to mana dump for a lot of infinite mana strategies.
Well, they can't ramp into Ugin forever!
But will this even be viable in the meta without Azusa?
This card reminds me a lot of bonfire of the damned, good for standard, but that's it.
For commander, I usually prefer something instant speed, like magmaquake
I think the enemy colored (rare) dual lands are the Snarls.
Yeah, I'm aware. But the flavor text made it sound like "Strixhaven Snarl" was some kind of Big Important Thing, rather than just "a snarl that exists in Strixhaven"

This is definitely going in my Wort, the Raidmother elfball deck. It's loaded with Forks and mana doublers. Probably more overkill than Comet Storm, but announcing that you cast this for X=8, 40 damage to up to 8 targets, conspire it and copy it three or four times. I know it's going to be a $1 mythic for EDH, but it's an awesome $1 EDH mythic.

It is, it's a sixth snarl mentioned in the Planeswalker Guide if I recall right. Should have been a card.

that’s the triple x teaser for this it multiplies the damage by 5
and story spotlight: Oooooh no...Rowan is gonna get a Dark Phoenix arc
Edit: thought about it dark Phoenix fits better
Also, flavor fail for the most mathematically intensive card not being Quandrix.

As far the mechanic of the card, you're supposed to cast it when the value of X is academic, I like what they did there.
