How much do you want to punish your opponents for doing things? Do you just deny them this ability? Always good to ask when considering when to cast which side.
It's been a while since a good silence effect was printed. Even longer singe one's been used in constructed.
Would it be asking too much to strap 'draw a card' onto the silence though?
Hey, this is an interesting design, instead of 2 playable-but-not-that-great modes, this one has two very playable modes,so even monocolored decks may be interested in it. The red side in particular could end up being very good if an ability-heavy deck shows up...and isn't Jund Sacrifice, but stillBurning-Tree Shaman saw action back in its day.
I am pretty sure that it does not work at all with this card with the post-Kaldheim errata on converted mana costs. This would have a CMS (or mana value) of 4. That is, if I remember how it works correctly.

You're not correct, but you're still right about it not working. This card still has a mana value of 2 in all other zones, because things that check characteristics only care about the front face while not in play or on the stack. Because of that, when Isochron Scepter asks you to exile a card, this isn't eligible, because it's a 2 mana value creature, not a 2 mana value instant.

Fair. I only saw the new ruling in passing since there has not been a chance to play much of late, and I remembered it addressing stuff such as Cascade shenanigans. As adding up split costs was how they did it before, it must just have stuck in my mind.

and this should work right..
That already works with Silence and Orim's Chant in the relevant formats.
