Beaming Defiance 1W

"I've lived too long in my father's shadow. It's time to find my own light." — Killian, Silverquill mage-student
Semester's End 3W
Rare
Instant
Exile any number of target creatures and/or planeswalkers you control. At the beginning of the next end step, return each of them to the battlefield under its owner's control. Each of them enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it if it's a creature and an additional loyalty counter on it if it's a planeswalker.
Thunderous Orator 1W
Uncommon
Creature - Kor Wizard
Vigilance
Whenever Thunderous Orator attacks, it gains flying until end of turn if you control a creature with flying. The same is true for first strike, double strike, deathtouch, indestructible, lifelink, menace, and trample.
Wizards: We are making Ward evergreen, so we don't have to use hexproof as much.
Also Wizards: Yeah, let's throw White hexproof granting so we can use it more.

Well there is a big difference in granting hexproof and inherently having it as one is interaction the other prevents it
Academic Probation seems bad in a vacuum, but out of all Lessons previewed so far, it seems to be the most generically playable. It has a reasonable mana cost and it's never going to be terrible. Seems like a fine bread and butter card for Learn decks. Semester's End is neat. Not sure if it competes favorably with Yorion, Sky Nomad, but it's neat. Maybe not Standard but could see Commander play. Thunderous Orator being a Wizard makes me happy. Linvala, Shield of Sea Gate was pretty much the only reasonable Wizard to play in Party (aside from Drannith Magistrate which is an amazing but situational card) but if you weren't playing U your Wizard selection is pretty underwhelming. Might not be a power card but it opens up new possibilities.
I thought the Kor were natives to Zendikar... what are they doing on Strixhaven? Wonder if there's a connection between the two (my guess is that planeswalkers travel between planes, not races).

Just like Elves exist on multiple planes, so too do Kor. It's no different than having Leonin on both Alara and Theros.
I appreciate the cleverness of giving the Orator inherent vigilance.

Heck, every day I wake up, I don't go out and kill people - and I'm rewarded by not having legions of enemies! Amazing how that works.
Although ninjas are experts of camouflage and concealment, they are actually horrible liars. This means that no matter where you are, you can shout out, “Are there any ninjas here?” and if there’s a ninja within earshot, he’ll be compelled to respond.

Might be a Rath/Mirrodin situation where the plane was created by a planeswalker (or other massively powerful being) and peppered with races from other planes.
