Guiding Voice seems actually pretty good and could see Constructed play. Sure I think it's pretty obvious by now that Lessons aren't going to be stellar by any means but "put a +1/+1 counter, draw a card" seems good enough to be played even if the card you "draw" is some janky Planeswalker removal or a 5 CMC kill spell. Historic Feather will love it, especially in BO1, while Commander Feather will cry sad tears that Commander has no sideboard. Field Trip could also be good, but requires a very specific Lesson card to be great - something powerful for 5 mana that Field Trip can fetch and that Green decks would want to run. The "basic Forest" is also quite a drawback in current Standard as the manabases evolve into making 3+ colors more viable. Time will tell wether it's playable or not. Rise of Extus gives us amazing art and introduces us to our set's villain. Kind of. Not a particularly exciting card otherwise.
Does everyone forget the option to discard and draw as part of learn? Its still potent in edh.
I probably wont run guiding voice in feather, while the counter and the option to loot is strong... i have a lot of trouble getting behind sorcery speed even if that spell gets recurred. The deck just draws a ****ton already and wants to be casting EVERY turn, not just MY turn
hmm enviromental sciences might be somewhat a blessing for edh that might be a good mana fixer for any deck
also when in doubt.... use a giant book to defeat your opponent lol.
Except in EDH you dont have a sideboard, and playing with "pull cards out of your binder" is not really a thing.
So "Learn" is particularly bad in EDH.
The card is also bad, as good old Wayfarer's Bauble is just plain better.
I think they just meant it can go in any deck. Lessons don't have to be in a wishboard, they can be maindecked.
I agree with your reading of it, but the Bauble simply is better. 2 life is nothing in EDH and a hand with 3 lands and enivoronmental Sciences just gets to 4 lands on T4 while a hand with 3 lands and the bauble is on 4 lands on T3. Obviously you have the option of playing both in Red but generally I'd prefer a 2 mana rock over the Lesson.

oh absolutely this is what I meant
Clearly there’s eons better options than this but it’s useful for the budget players who don't have money for those better 1-2 cmc land tutor/fixers
and yes they confirmed you can use lessons in the 99 just not the wishboard.

I assure you most playgroups would allow a small pile of Lessons for decks that care about them. I don't see how they are any more dangerous than companions or any other shenanigans.
I expected the basic lands to be more harry potter-y

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I still can't figure out if the flavor direction for card names is really clever or really groan-worthy. I think it might be both? Study Break made me smile and Field Trip made me chuckle and roll my eyes, but I can appreciate what they're going for, they certainly committed.
The art on the basics is really great. That one Forest art with that funky tree is really, really cool. I'm not sold on some of the art direction for the set, but a lot of the individual pieces are really well done.
Wow, Environmental Sciences is really good for Limited, you're almost guaranteed to break out of a color screw if you draw it, if you get it late by the point you know you're probably not going to play Learn it's still very handy in your starting 40, either way, it's my favorite Lesson card so far.

Absolutely. For me, it's a highly likely include in virtually every non-green deck I run. It's kinda like casting and activating Traveler's Amulet at the same time and instead of a handy cheap artifact in the graveyard, you get a Sorcery cast (not insignificant given Magecraft) and 2 life which is incidental but not unwelcome. When I first saw the card, I thought that if the rest of the set disappoints, at least Environmental Sciences is decent utility for some colors that need it.
I don't understand why it's relevant that you can use Lesson cards in a maindeck as the Learn mechanic does not let you tutor for them. Agreed though that some of the colorless cards may be useful if they otherwise synergize with what a deck is already trying to do.

There are a multitude of ways to study. How do you want to learn?
On the off-chance anyone cares, here are the basics in the Strixhaven Bundle

I think WotC played smart and stayed as far away from that IP as possible.
