Nifty way to do "hybrid" commanders, with Jorn kinda showing this already.

but as for the izzet efreet side im just gonna keep say KILL THAT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!! basically that's gonna be a magnet for removal on endless levels
I said this on the other thread where the RW legends were spoiled: Neither of the RW legends seem to fit Lorehold flavor though. I thought the orc was Prismari before I got to the bottom and saw White for the back. The Red just gets a generic red ability and the White is combat focused, but a little weak. I'm not sure if casting the White side is worth it.
Shaile / Embrose seem like a really cool duo, they both work well together, have interesting design space and each one is decent enough to be played as individual cards, either as a decent Anthem-but-actually counters or a bad Skullclamp (which is NOT an insult btw). Love 'em both.
Valentin / Lisette are nice power-wise but are boring af, and don't work that well together. Sure, Valentin is an evasive Lifelinker that triggers Lisette... but it does that after combat, so what's the point of Trample?
Kianne / Imbraham seem really good together, but too dependant on each other to work in Commander (where you can only play one or the other) and way too slow to work in Constructed. Still a really fun design tho.
Nassari is great and probably the best Commander of the whole bunch. Uvilda on the other hand is one of the worst cards I've ever seen in my life. Like, holy crap that card is BAD. It makes junk rares from previous sets like Silent Submersible and Rowdy Crew look good.

If I'm not mistaken, though, only the front-side of those MDFCs can be the commander, right?
At least it has both color identities.
The front side is the commander but you can still cast the other side.
These look like a lot of fun for casual games. I hope more DFC are on this level in the future.

From zones other than your hand? Does that also work if you suspend a MDFC with Jhoira of the Ghitu or cascade into them?
Also, can you have the backside of a MDFC commander facing up while the card is in the command zone for cards that refer to other aspects of your commander than their CI?

Her attack trigger lets you reuse creatures with activated abilities that require them to tap.
For example with just activated abilities: Activate Heartless Hidetsugu, this wipes both you and your opponents life down by half, rounded down. swing with Augusta, she untaps Hidetsugu. Then just activate Hidetsugu again. For 60-card formats this means each player has around 5 life. In EDH its 10 life remaining each. And since Augusta is swinging, that is 2 potential damage she is gonna deal which means that is 3 or 7 life remaining. That is assuming no player has lost life prior to this all.
Her ability allows you to double dip into activated abilities like Weathered Wayfarer who lets you for WW get two lands of your choice into your hand. This means you want to have Zirda, the Dawnwaker as your companion to reduce the costs of activated abilities such as with Dwarven Miner who for just RR can destroy two nonbasic lands of your choice a turn.
In addition Lorehold has a theme of artifacts, tapping, and reanimation. This is why Plarrg is Discard then Draw as you are filling your graveyard later to support him. Plarrg's purpose is actually to help you find cheap pieces you need.
But also each of these dean pairs are like the kaldheim gods. They can be neat in EDH, one or two might be good even, but they really want to be run in 60 card formats where you casting a second one means you can gain so much synergy between both halves of the card.

The card is considered face up in all zones when not in play, which is why the face down side cannot be a commander, but you can still cast the face down side any time you could cast the face up side assuming you can pay the costs.
Embrosse is just the 15th card in a long line of cards that make thornbite staff an engine - although it needs a few more tricks than other ones. The white side is actually the side that intrigues me more - both cards seem to be wanting to pair with green (hehe generous patron with the black one) and of course I would absolutely love to ratchet up a stuffy doll until it is a stuffy Macy's Thanksgiving day parade float.

Has it been officially stated anywhere that the backside can be acknowledged as the commander gameplaywise? I understand you'll get both sides' color identities "unlocked", but other than that I'm pretty sure only the frontside will register while the card is in the command zone.
If I'm wrong, I hope MTG Forge will implement it properly.

You won't scry off Path of Ancestry with Atarka Efreet unless Nassari is on the battlefield. Outside the battlefield (and the stack when casting Nassari), your commander's creature type is Djinn Wizard.

Thanks, that's what I assumed. : /
EDIT: Silly me, somehow it never occurred to me (and apparently never came up in a game I played or watched..?) that even a commander card's characteristics being changed will affect how other cards react to that (duh).
EDIT EDIT: Pretty sure I'm wrong about 2b) and 2c)... '^^
Huh. So if 1) is correct, I like these commanders a lot more than I did at first, even if it's a bit annoying that in any zone other than the battlefield I'd (technically, as in while playing on a software instead of a physical table) always see the front face of the card, even if the back is my commander.

Shaile/Embrose and Valentin/Lisette sound decent to me and Uvilda could maybe do some work in the right deck. Not sure about the rest, though.

Okay, so I can use Nassari, Dean of Expression as my commander, but paying for an Atarka Efreet with Path of Ancestry won't let me Scry 1 then, right?
No
No I won't scry or no I'm not right?

EDIT: Silly me, somehow it never occurred to me (and apparently never came up in a game I played or watched..?) that even a commander card's characteristics being changed will affect how other cards react to that (duh).
So, please correct me if I'm wrong:
1) Once Nassari, Dean of Expression is on the battlefield, paying for an Atarka Efreet with Path of Ancestry will let me Scry.
2) If my regular commander on the battlefield gets turned down (say via Ixidron), I won't
2a) Scry off of Path of Ancestry
2b) get any mana from Command Tower
2c) pay any life to draw a card from War Room.
