How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Archmage Emeritus is pretty overrated. It's only real applications are in decks that work better with actual engines. Vedalken Archmage did the same thing with a much more broken card type, and it isn't even EDH playable. It's never been playable.
At best, it'll be the card you mulligan away in some tier C Standard deck

The "or copy" clause makes it much more abuseable.

Sure, but to what exact end? Any deck that can make mass copies easily doesn't really need a 4 mana creature to be broken. The deck will either work without this, or not work at all. It's win more at best, hand clogging at most likely.
I guess it turns Chain of Smog into "Mill your library", but it's already pretty easy to do that in formats where Chain of Smog is legal without needing a 4 mana creature on field.
Wait, what? So you can draw a card and tutor stuff from yous SB at instant speed for 3 mana?
Considering the Companion fiasco I'm surprised they have pulled another "tutor stuff from your SB" mechanic so soon, maaybe it won't be busted this time but
On the other hand, Will and Rowan are a really cool design, Will in particular looks playable in a control shell, tuck your Saw It Comingaway and then you get...Counterspell for U? Sign me up.
Also, once I stop being broke, I'm gonna get one of those Japanese Duresses, love them.
My guess is that it comes from one of the definitions of snarl: a tangled mass, maybe where the land got mixed up through some sort of earth collision mechanics present on this plane, or some sort of leyline crash...perhaps magic from the dragons?
I think it'll be fine if it doesn't stray too far from the Lessons we've already seen. Fae of Wishes is pretty solid, as was Mastermind's Acquisition. It all remains to be seen how far they are willing to take a spell with Learn tacked on, and how far they are willing to take Lessons in terms of power. I love toolbox style decks, including the wishes. So it'll probably be fun anyways.
As for the stream not shown there nor any of the added cards to the list
No I’m not buying this one dang bit wizards I’m never gonna give up on the theory of phyrexian praetor on strixhaven until I see the whole set and decks and nothing there
Cards look sweet so far. Learn and Lessons are cool mechanics--going to be difficult to figure out a correct balance. Both the Learn and the Lesson cards are mostly below-rate, but having consistent access to them makes them worth more than they would be otherwise. The 5 CMC (MV?) removal spell in particular is interesting--you'd never maindeck that card but having access to it when there's a weird permanent that's going to kill you is neat.
Stupid question but does the Magecraft ability on Zaffai care about what you scry or the spell you cast / copy?
The scry, elemental token, and 10 damage to random opponent are the rewards. To get each of these rewards you need to cast or copy an instant or sorery spell with a certain cmc. Think of it like threshold.
If for example you cast a Lightning Bolt at an opponent, you would Scry 1. This is because you cast a spell with a cmc of less than 5 or 10. And since Zaffai doesn't have the word "instead" in his text, you go down the line of his text box with each condition fulfilled. So instead for example if you cast a Time Stretch, you would: Scry 1, create a 4/4 blue & red elemental creature token, then deal 10 damage to a random opponent.

Thanks
I wonder if it´s a good commander, having to cast 10 mana spells to deal 10 damage to a random opponent
Wasn't the main issue with Companion that the card was always available and could be put in your hand for no cost, pre-nerf? Learn and Lessons seem okay.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I am most likely seeing to much here but with Lukka we have 4 Planeswalker and white seems to be suspiciously absent. Not sure if Confront the Past is foreshadowing something... I was upset with Gildeon dying in War of the Spark but I honestly think that it would be better to leave it like that now and give other white Planeswalker more chances to shine. Teyo, the Wanderer and maybe Elspeth. I wouldn't like it if all consequences of War of the Spark would be irrelevant. And we don't need to fool ourselves... Nico Bolas will return, too.
Well maybe Lukka won't get a planeswalker card and is just present in some other cards.
4 and more Planeswalker seems excessive but without a core set this year maybe they will try to put those planeswalker in other sets.

It's possible, but it heavily depends on what version of Lukka WotC decides to define as canon. Card Lukka could be WR, Story Lukka is BR and even then calling him R is a huge stretch. There's also the issue that we literally just got a WR Planeswalker in Zendikar Rising, but then again Tyvar Kell is kinda-not-really GB and came right after a GB Nissa.

I always thought Lukka was a good example of RWB character, or at least that's how he came across to me by the end of the Ikoria book. He added W to his R with his mission to achieve order and safety for his people, but B for the opportunistic and self-serving way he went about trying to accomplish that. But that was just my headcanon, so I could be way off on that.

I read this as "Sol land" (as in Ancient Tomb, City of Traitors, etc.) and was very confused at first
10 might be too much, but 5 mana spells exist quite a lot that are free to cast, ala Force of Will, Gush, and the like.
