Hoooo boy, here we go again. Now at €300 for the complete pack.
I just recently got The Walking Dead and Extra Life...
I'm very on and off for these. Basic Lands and Titans are awesome (and Uro ban actually makes me happy, maybe one day I'll be able to get the extended art in foil), Faeries is very trippy but also quite fitting to the subject, and I love that Vendilion Clique. The artwork feels familiar. It is not directly based on the two other artworks... Help!
The Valentine's Day one seems totally random and most of the art is horrifying, I agree. Likely my least favorite SL so far.
Every now and then I think about getting deeper into Magic again, actually getting cards for the decklists I've made, playing regularly and stuff. But then I remember that this is how they do things now and am like "yeeeah ... nope"
I don't understand the valentine's one. What's "Valentine's Day" about it? Couldn't they have found six cards that would make sense to give "romantic couples/dates" artworks? At least that would have been cute.

I imagine that they went with "candy + cupid + hearts" to sidestep possible orientation politics (with cries of exclusion if they only show straight couples and cries of "PC pandering" if they include any other couples). I'm a bit surprised that wizards would sidestep the issue instead of punching through so soon after Wizards vowed to write the stories they want to write in spite of politics, however.

I actually quite enjoy the goblin token that is vomiting roses.
That said, it does kinda seem like Lovestruck Beast would have been a better choice than most of the card they chose, or any of the four (or more) couples with cards.
I think I've learned to treat Magic cards like baseball cards: keep 'em in a binder in numerical order, don't play with 'em, try to finish the set and just keep my head down.
those morons did it again just like with the snow land one
MAKE 5 TO 10 OF EACH BASIC FOR SECRET LAIRS! NOT 1 OF EACH!!
They were trending in the right direction with the Bob Ross lands, those were only $3 per basic land. At $6, these are more expensive than Unhinged Islands.
exactly the bob ross looked like the right direction but they went backwards not what you want to do.
and the unhinge lands would be easier to collect than these
The lands one is hilariously scummy because youre paying a premium for 1 of each basic.
The titan one with uro is horse*****. Uro is getting banned evwrywhere, prime time got banned in the format that matters, and heres a frost titan i guess. At least they told us about uro.
I would have liked it if it were the full cycle of titans. But missing Sun Titan would not bode well if I want them in cube. Plus I think the xbox Grave Titan is much more badass. I like tbe KLD frame, but these Titans look tiny being forced to fit in the small frame.
Still not happy about distribution as our country is excluded still. Only choice is to buy from resellers here that give more than 50% markup. I dont know why they can just sell through LGS which I will gladly support.
Valentine's Day is definitely the worst, though I do like the Swiftspear.
Faeries I actually like the art, but not for $40.
Giants are what I expected from metal stuff, though the B/R one definitely looks better overall. Uro just looks like a random titan.
Lands are lands, they look nice, but definitely not $30/$40 nice.
I have to ask why WotC refuses to price some of these at $20. Many SLs I would have bought at $20, but at $30, $40, even $400? Absolutely not.

The lands would be fine at $5 for non-foil or $10 for foil I think. Charging 6 times that much is why I don't buy any product that helps Wizards bottom line at this point. I only buy singles. These greedy fools need to be put in check.

The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

I'm fine with the $30, but they definitely have to come more than just one of each. I agree with what they have right here $30 is too much.

Would you rather pay that money for a bunch of cards, or five? (Fetchlands)

At $30, I'd want at least 6 of the non-foils of each. This puts them at $1 a land. Still more than they should be, but tolerable since they are "special".

Fun fact: The lands Secret Lairs have been some of the best investments in the lot. Turns out that when people hem and haw about paying $6 a land, while other folks want enough copies to play EDH with, supply and demand create $15-30 islands
I considered that, although the story suggests Heliod was not the first sun god, not that he was previously the god of love. I was hoping Klothys would be the god of love. Or the GR god we didn't know at the time would, rather.
Honestly I cringed scrolling through them all. But I also laughed at the user who reminded everyone (can't find the post) that these are optional, after all.
SL could be at least palpable if it introduced unique cards or opportunities that still felt like MTG and not... whatever this all is.

Agreed in theory. But Pet Rock sold over a million "copies" in the 70's. Whatever floats your boat. Hard pass on the lands for me.

I do like the faeries arts a lot.
I hate the valentines arts in the gisela one

But then people wouldn’t be more incentivized to buy many multiples of them? From a financial standpoint, why would they do that?

Customer satisfaction.
WotC simply learned they can shave the balls of their customers and they will still buy into anything.
And people that do deserve what they get.
Anybody else will still complain, till they change something ... and if that doesnt happen, more will complain, just a matter of time.

Shame they couldn't have put Grave Titan and Prime Time in the same bundle, because I definitely would've gone for that one.
