The only thing I am disappointed about is that I just picked up some borderless Cultivates from M21 (or whatever set they were in). Otherwise, this Secret Lair is looking pretty good. Ponder is still the most exciting card, but I am optimistic for what the last two cards will be.
Pass. Not a fan of the artwork especially the cartoony Kaya.

Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Teferi of some sort isn't surprising, and I like that Cultivate looks like they are growing a Lotus (perhaps Jeweled Lotus). Every Secret Lair is a pass from me (besides the metal art, but I forgot to buy it) so this doesn't interest me.
I don’t like any of the Secret Lair cards with art that doesn’t look like MtG, but I do really like that Cultivate. It’s close enough to MtG art style and the scene it depicts is just really cool.

Flavor text says they're growing a Black Lotus.
I like the idea that the kids are growing one of the most powerful cards in Magic. I also like both Teferi and Kaya got a card.
i really like these. especially the comicbooky kaya. just a huge fan of that style of art.
also a fan of how the art for teferi pushes the feeling of strong, happy, family values - its a nice change from the typical dour magic card art where everything is the end of the world. we don't see nearly enough of just plain wholesome goodness in the art any more. it makes me long for the days of the occasional beeble or goblin snowman
Nothing about any of these cards strikes me as strong or empowered. Family man Teferi is the biggest win of the bunch - but I would much rather see more "Nick Cage/Black Panther" than "Fat Albert" for the artistic style. This would have also been a great opportunity to (as much as I disagree with the removal of Terese Nielsen) to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Make Angel of Jubilation, Descendant's path, essence warden, eternal witness, intimidation - just kidding lol, force of will!!! -that would have been a game changer, and show a real dedication to the charity/theme, mother of runes, or pattern of rebirth.
These arts are really great. I love the style of the Kaya art, it may not be typical to MtG, but that's what these products are for and I think this is a great depiction of Kaya. I adore the Teferi art as well, I love the wholesome simplicity of Teferi with his loving family. It's something particularly unique to Teferi in the storyline, and I like that that aspect of his character has been getting more focus in the past couple years. Plus, I think it's deceptively empowering to see a black man depicted as a warm, strong father since black men have a history of being depicted as anything but in pop culture.
That Cultivate art, though. What a gorgeous composition to match a really powerful piece of flavor text about resiliency and cultivating a brighter future from present struggles. Well done.
Love that Teferrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii adsfa;sjdgl';adfgkjl;adsfhl;asdfijasdfjl;'. Art style is giving me strong Disney like vibes akin to Hercules. Being a parent this strikes me hardcore in a sentimental manner.
Will all those who got into a tizzy about this SL simmer down now? It's really not that bad.

I wanted to say something about the Cultivate flavor text too - it's not just eloquent, but metaphorically and contemporarily apropos as well.

How about Mulan? "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."
That Cultivate is amazing. I don't know if I'll buy the SL, but I'll definitely look to pick up that single.
I'm not a huge fan of the art style for Kaya, but I have to admit this one looks pretty good.
I wish I liked the Teferi artwork, because it's overall a really nice scene. But those weird-looking smiles are so distracting from what would otherwise be nice art. It's like some weird Disney-looking smiles pasted onto normal human beings. Either that or I half-expect "Black Hole Sun" to start playing in the background.
I like what they were going for with Teferi, even though I don't think the artist managed it exactly. Cultivate looks really good, and I like the stylised Kaya.

These are nice. Would have preferred Cabal Coffers over Cultivate since it's a black staple. But nice art direction anyways.

I'd have liked the rav version of Kaya better than Conspiracy version, but Teferi is a nice addition.
Since the last thread went off the rails, please keep discussion to the cards themselves.
