Runeforge Champion 2W
Creature - Dwarf Warrior
When Runeforge Champion enters the battlefield, you may search your library and/or graveyard for a Rune card, reveal it, and put it into your hand. If you search your library this way, shuffle it.
You may pay 1 rather than pay the mana cost for Rune spells you cast.

Maybe they could be artifact enchantments? In my mind runes are like enchantments imbued upon stone. They'll probably be common - like the Cartouche in Amonkhet and maybe similarly they'll be a cycle of 5?
EDIT: OR, runes could be Auras that only enchant artifacts... That seems flavorful. And we know there'll be alotta artifacts in this set.
Another rare I will be happy to open from a Set booster. The more powerful these Rune cards are the higher this cards price will be. When does a leak turn into a flood?

Playing since 1994: Currently MAGS (HomeBrew),Standard & Pauper (Pioneer and Modern are degenerate trash formats)
STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Even if we don't know what Runes are, it's a Stoneforge Mystic variant in the sense it's search + cheat into play, and it fetches from the Grave so you don't need to run multiples. People are already running Alpine Houndmaster to search vanillas on ETB, so unless Runes are either really bad or really narrow, this should slot nicely in Winota builds.

That was my thought as well. Most have Enchant Artifact, maybe a few have Enchant Creature to represent magic tattoos.

I missed the fetch from GY the first read. You are absolutely correct. This is a strong card, can't wait to get my hands on it. Price tag will show it too.
I can see Runes showing up in Forgotten Realms this Summer as well.

Based off of some of the artwork where the runes are going up and down those vertical pillar thingies and trees, runes could be auras that enchant lands. Like the runes on Barkchannel Pathway and Hengegate Pathway

Protection from reason (Decadent_Creed can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by reason.)
Enchant permanent to do things such as "enchanted permanent has indestructible", "enchanted permanent has hexproof", "tap enchanted permanent; it does not untap during its controller's untap step", or even "you control enchanted permanent". *shrug* We will most likely know for certain in a few days.
it all really depends on how good the rune cards are either this will be a less than a dollar card if runes are garbage or it will be a $10-$30 card from S- power rune can easily combo in standard/modern/legacy/vintage maybe even commander
so maybe artifact enchantments since they are rocks
and for what runes due i say they are 1 of the 3
1. just like regular old enchantments but artifacts
2. auras reimagined
3. secondary shrine tribal deck (runes get more powerful per rune like the slivers and shrines)
What’s up with the white leaks? Are we going in WUBRG order?
The 1 alt cost seem to imply artifact, to not break the color pie. I’m leaning towards enchantments though, since we already have vehicles and equipment as artifact sub-themes. I guess we will see kn a while...

Maybe, maybe not. Multiple people from WotC staff made it pretty clear that they are aware of W's issues and stated that they will begin experimenting on expanding its color pie, like they did with G and then R before. W already has a (very small) precedent on cheating colored mana costs with False Dawn, Celestial Dawn and Kentaro, the Smiling Cat, maybe this "alternate colorless cost" is a way they are attempting to give White fixing and possibly even ramp.

I expect artifacts since the card is a dwarf. It will be interesting to see how they handle dwarves seemingly caring about 4 (or more) artifact sutypes.
The runes are very likely to be artifacts, like some said, dwarves & turning the cmc into are good hints.
It's CRAZY powerful to make a spell cost only 1 generic mana, so those rune cards either have to be utter garbage (narrow stuff, anti-synergistic with creatures or sthg) or imply alternate mana costs. Like :
"if you don't pay the full cmc, when ~~ etb, sacrifice a permanent with cmc = to the difference", or
"attach ~~ to target permanent you control with cmc = or less than the amount of mana spent to cast ~~".
There MUST be a drawback to the dwarf's super-broken ability. Otherwise there's a risk we witness a new kind of brokenness.

Pioneer - A bunch of stuff Modern - Humans Legacy - Grixis Phoenix / Death & Taxes
By this i don't think Runes will be that powerfull (maybe enchantment - Aura Rune )(that gives some small bonuses, some may draw cards on ETB, etc) can't see them being powerfull artifacts or similar while this enabler is only a rare...
Looking at Warchanter Skald (the only card in white that cares about being enchanted, and the only in the set soo far) i would guess an "enchantment -aura rune" makes sense, they would have more interactions with auras and equipment in the main set while vehicle stuff is in non draft booster products as we know there is a chance most of the gods will be equipments as well (maybe one can even be a vehicle)(soo having lots of other equips and vehicles in set could take away of their specialness) and yeah, the setboosters unique cards probably share some themes with cards in the main set, soo creatures that care about being enchanted or equiped, or being tapped will probably be a small theme. Setting the rune subtype is only a way to keep this card self contained ( not much of a problem in older formats)
My guess is that Rune is going to be a subtype of enchantments, likely auras. As long as there is one remotely playable rune this seems like a very strong card.
Edit: Also, are nearly all the white rare/mythic cards 3 mana creatures?!?
Looks like a decent card, guess we'll see how good based on what runes are and what they do. I feel like the change in mana cost of runes might be a little too good.
Seeing how runes appear as glowing glyphs all over the landscape of Kaldheim (have a look at the pathway lands), I'm pretty sure they're enchantments, or more specifically, auras. I still wonder if they'll have some overarching mechanical identity or are just a flavor thing, like Cartouches were. The fact that there's a cost-reducing tutor for them already makes them way better than Cartouches though.

I agree, because of this (and to reduce the cost to 1) don't expect Runes to be powerful.

Maybe they will be like artifact sorcery/instants? IDK if that would work, but it would be how I would do them.

This got me thinking of the subtype Arcane from the days of Kamigawa. I just hope they're functionally less toxic and better costed.

maybe they are auras that enchant equipment cards
This card is alright 2/3 for 3 Mana isn't the worse. The power will depend on what runes are and what they will do.
