At this point, "pretends to be a B/R tempo card but actually only does a bunch of midrange value crap very badly" is its own genre. A boatload of gravy with no meat. A body that's way off-curve for any good tempo build, fuel that doesn't matter if I haven't played a lot of better cards before this, ramp into an unspecified finisher that's going to come at least a turn too late. All on a card that demands a specific tribal build, and is vulnerable to every kind of disruption.
its kinda boring. was anyone clamoring for berserker tribal?
i'm not a fan of the art being a sleeve because it makes it a little difficult to see whats trying to be depicted by the saga - especially since we have zero context for it - but i guess it fits with the theme of berserkers i guess?
So... I am waiting to see the quality of CMC 1-2 berserkers with haste in Kaldheim (and Forgotten Realms, most likely) before I pass judgement on this.
If we get at least 2 such cards and drawing 2-3 cards off of this becomes halfway realistic, this thing might find a standard deck.
A body that's way off-curve for any good tempo build,
Was going to comment that a 3/3 flying menace for 3 is good. Then I squinted a little harder at the card. It's only 2/3? And doesn't fly? What kind of demon is this? It's too small to be a fire giant stand-in.
Also, berserkers for this tribal deck are only going to come from this one set? There are currently 3 berserkers in Standard, and I can't see getting many in Strixhaven...
The card seems plausible mechanics-wise, but for some reason, the card's flavour seems off to me. I know demons are in other, officially released Kaldheim promotional material (even though they're not in Norse mythology) and berserkers looks like a Kaldheim tribe, but "The Bloodsky Massacre" sounds more Greek than Norse to me, and me being unable to see half the art due to glare isn't helping and is making part of me think that the rest of the art isn't Norse-style.
So this confirm some kind of tribal for ally bicolors too? Nice

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Wizards and Shamans? There's already a blue Giant spoiled that cares about Wizards, and Shamans make the most sense for an RG class on a Norse-themed plane.
Eh, the more I see of this sets tribal theme the less I like it. Someone else already said it, but who really asked for Berserker tribal? It seems strange that they divided Vikings into Warriors and Berserkers.
The name of this card also feels very random. Apart from maybe the Berserker token creation, none of the effects are "massacre-y" in any way.
Really needed the token to be 3/2 and better keyword abilities instead of 2/3, on that note would a 3/3 token have been too powerful?
Maybe if they made it a 3/2 haste with either menace and/or deathtouch then I would like this card on it's own.
I keep reading this as Bloodskee, like a blood filled Brewskie hahaha.
Same here! My first thought was "Okay, so Slavic bleed into Skandinavian indpired set? Huh, not too much of a stretch, actua... Oh! BloodSKY, okay..."

Anyway, I really like the card and have zero issue with non-flying lesser Demons, as those do have precedent in MtG.
A 3 mana 2/3 that fetches a card on its first attack is nice, too. Especially since the lore 2 and 3 boni aren't tied to that specific token. Imagine playing this later on when you have a bunch of Demons/Berserkers out.
: )
Also, Berserker is pretty much the norse iteration of a champion or herald, not originally hurr-durr-battle-guy, so I like seeing a lot of Berserkers in this of all sets.
I don't understand the berserkers should just be warriors argument.
Both are already supported in MtG. Lovisa Coldeyes already looks like a Viking and shes from Coldsnap.
This is a Viking set, and by Viking standards the two are very different. A berserker had its own stigma and lore.
As caulkwrangler said, where else we would really get to expand the berserker class?
Frankly, I'd love to see more of a definition given out for what a berserker means in the scope of MtG.
I'd say the most common abilities given to berserkers in Magic are haste and ~this~ attacks each combat if able, both of which make sense to me. Usually they're power is greater than their toughness, which also makes sense as an allusion to their wanton disregard for defense.
Some outside-the-box-type berserkers: Ogre Siegebreaker (isn't this usually an ability given to assassins?) Ursine Champion (and this to shapeshifting druids?)
And then there's this: (WTF?) Olivia's Dragoon (did they just try to force this connection through flavor text?)
I agree with “why?” have this new tribe as opposed to just support existig tribes like Warrior.
But Berserker is an existing tribe. Its just as old as Warriors in fact as both came out in Legends. The newest one is actually Barbarian and that is from Ice Age.
And the notion that this should be another warrior tribal card is a tad cruel. As Warriors have 788 members compared to Barbarian (31) or Berserker (84).
I think they should have a combat specific effect. But every type/class/race has some cards that do something different. They are plenty of warrior creatures that could be a different creature type in my opinion.
For me berserker should be a creature type that invites you to attack every turn. Like having first strike only on your turn, can't block, menace, an return effect from the graveyard with higher attack than toughness.
A 2/3 is not the best representation but it has menace. The mana cost is okay 3CC for a 2/3 with menace isn't the worse. The second ability is very flavorful because it gives you an additional reason to attack. The life loss is reckless, too.
A 2/3 demon berserker in red/black just feels off to me. A 3/2 would just make so much more sense. That said, a 2/3 menace with draw a card is fine, and this is kind of that if you squint (and sometimes much better).
I feel fairly confident that the "rare black 2/1 that somehow reanimates" role in this set will be a berserker. I'm expecting at least one strong 1 or 2 mana. berserker, so you may get to draw 2 cards of this, which would be great.

I feel that the inevitable 2/1 for 1 black berserker will be less relevant than the equally inevitable 1/1 for 1 red berserker with haste and minor upside (especially if we get a second one in forgotten realms). The ability to slam multiple hasty boys on Saga level 2 like mini bomat courier would be the thing to save this card from obscurity, if anything.

i pretty sure it’s gonna guilds but tribal edition this is what I see based on all cards (including leaks)
WU spirits
BR berserker
GW warriors
WB angels
UR giants
BG elves
RW dwarfs
GU shapeshifters (the changelings)
Any ideas for UB and RG
best I can think of for dimir is either rogue/cleric

If there are decent 1,2 drops on curve then the 4th turn can be an all out attack with all your attackers to be replaced. Quite a good rate.
Maybe if they made it a 3/2 haste with either menace and/or deathtouch then I would like this card on it's own.

The last effect is a little disappointing. A Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion or Grand Warlord Radha kind of effect but only for berserker creatures would have been cooler.
