Time for Tibalt to finally be relevant! It's only been...eight years since his introduction!?
Well, I mean his card in War of the Spark wasn't awful...

I think, they meant relevant to the story. This is their first story arc in the spotlight.

Heck, every day I wake up, I don't go out and kill people - and I'm rewarded by not having legions of enemies! Amazing how that works.
Although ninjas are experts of camouflage and concealment, they are actually horrible liars. This means that no matter where you are, you can shout out, “Are there any ninjas here?” and if there’s a ninja within earshot, he’ll be compelled to respond.

Oh yeah, the card was fine. ZasZ234 is correct in that I meant story relevance. Because as nice as the comics were to Tibalt, side material generally doesn't count for the majority of the audience.
Oof. Really? Can’t handle a little joke? Like you felt the need to make a zero value post just telling me to shut up because I made a joke about this not being the first time this plot has popped up in Magic? Really?
No, that was supposed to be like a "No Way!" Kind of shut up, sorry for the misleading period at the end of it. My phone auto-generated it.
She stole Thassa's godly bident in the original Theros block. Then used it during the battle for Zendikar to command Lorthos. Seems like she also used it to lift an ocean at one point.
So if Tibalt steals a godly weapon, he's copying Kiora. If he becomes a god, he's copying Xenagos.

And by taking others ideas and claiming they're his own, he's copying Tezzeret.

Thats kinda the plot of a lot of stories though. Stealing power and powerful objects.
I just wanna know how this all supposedly ties in to the new "grand planeswalker story arc" that started with Eldraine. TBH I was hoping it would've concentrated more on the twins than the leftovers of the War of the Spark cast and crew but hey that's just me.
Either way, at least we get web lore to work with after the cluster**** with Theros and Ikoria.

Every set since War of the Spark has put a lot of emphasis on the villain Planeswalkers. Oko being the face of the set (as well as, y'know, Oko), Ashiok robbing Heliod of his spot as main antagonist, Lukka's... whatever the hell is canon in that garbled mess that is Ikoria's storyline... and now Nahiri and Tibalt.
One side of me wants to say that they are trying to add some more depth to their villains, but we all know that's 100% not true because Lukka is a thing and calling book Lukka one dimensional is an insult to straight lines. So, knowing WotC the way we already do, expect the Planeswalker equivalent of Legion of Doom being formed in 2021, 2022 tops.
It turns out alrund is in the video. So he is a cross between odin and heimdall. Still there are 3 more characters in that could fit the god type. Despite all that, i still think that having gods in monocolored idenity is a missed opportunity coz most gods from norse mythology are at least 2 or more colors. Ikoria still being around probably played a role in them not being 3 colored. I get that based on restriction from mythics we couldn't have 15 but damn we could have 10 in mythic and still have them 2 colored. At the end of the day, given the gods are indirectly immortal, they could be worked to be at a rare slot and have them as said.when i look at the white one and abilitywise it looks more rare than mythic. If they are all monocolored what sets them apart from the other 2 cycles othen than the mechanics?
masterstrix asked: Can I request more multicolor gods? I love the design of the Kaldheim gods, but with them we’ll have 5 complete cycles of mono colored gods. Only one complete cycle of 2 color plus 5 others (3 from hour of devastation and the 2 from TBD). I was hopeful Kaldheim would have our first 3-color gods.
A: The reason we err toward less colors on our Gods is to increase the number of different decks that can play them. Tri-colored Gods is something we can keep an eye out for when the right opportunity presents itself.

That is a whatever answer since this is what he answered back in tarkir, about the protagonists of blocks being monocolored, since he wanted most people to play them. While at the same time he confirms the 10 worlds below. What he also says about looking for a opportunity to do 3 colored gods is weird coz besides hindu gods this was the perfect place
So pretty much they're saying, "Yeah we're not doing 3+ coloured gods any time soon and if you want them then you'll have to wait until we make a novelty set that has no bearing on Standard-level sets."
Take in your multi- and mono-coloured deities for now.

Ashiok wasn't the antagonist in Theros Beyond Death. He/she/they leaves the story at the very beginning, after inducing Elspeth with nightmares that allow her to create the Shadowspear. Ashiok then planeswalks away to see New Phyrexia, and then everything else in the story--Heliod's machinations, the war between the gods, Elspeth's escape, Klothys creating Calix--follows from that point. Ashiok's only roll in the story is kicking off the circumstances that make Elspeth's escape possible. All of the actual evil in the plot is driven by Heliod, with Calix serving as something of a secondary, if ineffectual, antagonist to Elspeth on her way out of the Underworld.
I do understand your sentiment, though. Theros Beyond Death is the only set since Dominaria where the main villain wasn't a Planeswalker. It used to be that for the stories of each plane, the main heroes and villains were all (or mostly) from that plane, fighting over a world in which they had proper stakes. But nowadays, at least story-wise, MTG worlds are beginning to feel like the rotating backgrounds from fighting games like Mortal Combat or Street Fighter - pretty backdrops for our cast of plane-traveling characters to fight against, but of little consequence themselves.
Kaldheim is perhaps the worst offender so far. It seems our story's primary figures will be Kaya and Tibalt, neither of whom are from Kaldheim.
Umm Elspeth was using a god weapon long before Kiora got Thassa’s bident. So Kiora was copying Elspeth first.
Elspeth didn’t have a whole thing about her stealing it from them tho. Purphuros dropped his sword and then, when she used it to kill Polukranos, Heliod turned it into her spear, Godsend. It was a gift to her which is a whole different thing from stealing it.
Not really how I remember it. She used the sword in Bant, Mirrodin/New Phyrexia and Dominaria. All happend before the fight against Polukranos. Her spark ignited while she was very young and her first plane was Theros. She landed directly in the center of a battle between gods (Heliod vs Purphoros). The sword fell before her, she took it and planeswalked away to Bant. There she became a knight later.
Heliod confronted her while she returned to Theros. He stated that she was a thief and attacked her. She easily repelled the attacks. Heliod surprised called her Sun Champion and changed the shape of the weapon to a spear. She killed Polukranos with the weapon later.
The sword were never property from Heliod. It was crafted by Purphoros. So technically she stole the weapon from him.
Hate to necro this BUT.... are we actually going to get a Kaldheim Trailer?
Is the teaser it?
Looks like it. I think they spent all the budget on that horrible metal band they had at the Kaldheim party
Don't assume or it makes an ass...

After seeing the trailer I have no idea what the story is about, what those trolls(?) are, or what anything has to do with anything. That was just Kaya killing some stuff for 30 seconds and then Tibalt laughing at her.
The tree thing was a little better. Definitely not as bad as Ikoria, and Zendikar in my opinion, but this is just kind of boring with nothing to really discuss, which in a way is worse than being so bad that you can't help but talk about it.

Here’s the offical trailer for those
ugh I agree the teaser fits better as the offical trailer than this (so this could be worse than Ikoria's trailer)
I thought they were hiding it because vorinclex was in the trailer
