This would probably make cards like Kaheera, the Orphanguard a tier-worthy companion in Standard if I'm reading this right. Add in Animal Sanctuary and you have a cool little tribal theme here. How potent I'm not sure but hey it's something more than what we have.

btw, just because the card works in a tribal deck, it doesnt meen the set will be tribal focused
by now every plane has a bunch of races, mostly humans and other stuff like elves or so. that doesnt mean just because we have those races or tribes, means the set is focused around tribals. cards like General Kudro of Drannith are clear tribal cards, but that doesnt mean a card like Sea Gate Stormcaller is a tribal card, just because it is a Human (or wizard...w/e)
you sometimes just get a few cards that incentivices you to play tribal, but that doesnt mean you have to play it. you are free to mix elves, humans and goblins if u want. than this card is just not for that deck. it is a niche card like many magic cards are
oh you know what this might also confirm the theory that kaldheim might be third times a charm attempt for a tribal set
the other 2 times was lorwyn and ixalan
It feels like we have tribal stuff all the time. Commander Legends had elf tribal, Ikoria, humans, Eldraine had knight tribal, Innistrad was horror tribes, not to mention core sets, Onslaught, etc. It's really popular so I get why it's so common but it feels almost constant.
yes but the reason this helps the theory is this is an "any tribe" card you usually don't see cards like this in standard sets unless it has a tribal theme
Elves in G/B, maybe warriors in R/B, maybe spirits in U/W, someone said trolls for U/G but Simic is tricky. Any ideas what it might be?
well either simic will just be snow
but if we’re to take a theory and ever so slight possibility of being sea monster since we have krakens and Jörmungandr In particular it’s not like they we’re sneaky and aesi was Mtg's Jörmungandr the whole time
I guess I'm missing it because I never saw Birthing Pod go off. However since it's tribal and sorcery.
So you can get ONE thing ONCE on YOUR turn, sure its repeatable I get that part? That just doesnt seem all that busted I guess. We already have neoform and the like to bust out something busted and don't you need to win by turn 3-5 in modern? The earlier example of the goblins going off would end up later than that so it seems moot at that point because your dead?

I mentioned UG Trolls but in thinking about it for more than four seconds realized there's very little reason to think Trolls would be blue. I could see Giants (with the Norse Frost Giants being an inspiration...and Beanstalk Giant and Frost Titan have both made it onto The List), although they've been RW before. You're right, Simic is tricky. I suppose Snakes might be the most natural tribe for it in the game. Ice-Fang Coatl has hit The List, but I don't know if we should expect a lot of Snakes in a Norse block other than maybe a Jormungand(sp?) type.

Snakes is another interesting idea. There is a great Cosmos Serpent or something in the flavor text of one of the pathways so there is some evidence of at least that one snake in the lore. I feel like there would have to be some kind of snake humanoids to be able to fill out the necessary numbers to be a tribal component and I'm not sure Kaldheim will be the setting that has them. It's possible and I would be happy to see more snakes. I wouldn't be surprised if it was something else though.

The parts balancing Pyre of Heroes out are the tribal part and arguably the higher mana cost. Birthing Pod remains banned in Modern due to opening up access to a toolkit of hate critters, turning any low drop into a value engine, generating an entire combo in 1 turn from a single creature in Twin Pod decks, working immediately unlike Prime Speaker Vannifar, and not dying to creature removal unlike Prime Speaker Vannifar. The repeatability is indeed that powerful. Pod decks were typically creature-based midrange decks that can throw blockers in front of aggro for days, thus preventing quite a lot of Turn 3 wins.
I'm actually thinking of trying Pyre of Heroes in Modern Elementals. It's tribal, it's chock-full of value creatures, it gets value from killing its own creatures, and it could use the consistency boost.
It’s offical kaldheim is the third time that we do a tribal theme set
And it’s not 4 tribes it’s 7 tribes it looks
WB angels (aka the Valkyrie's) RW dwarfs (also artifact/vechile theme) UR giants BR berserkers BG elves GU shapeshifters (which also have Changeling by the way) WU spirits based on the commander deck
and Ofcoarse which tribe throws in the “let’s get this party started” mechanic from zendikar
for prediction ten tribes for each two color combo UB zombies (for dragur's) RG wolves
Don,t have a clue for GW
I think it also had "illusion" and to some degree "morph" (as a no creature-type creature type).
Could make the distinguishing between race types and class types (wizard / human) too, which they did not do especially for "human" creatures back in the days.
