Oof, even at ~$18-$20 for the Boros one it’s an easy pass. Only 3 cards topping $2 (Sigarda’s Aid $5, Sram $3.75, and Boros Charm $2.50, and the charm may not hold that price once CL releases). Commander is boring as well. He can be potentially strong, but dull as hell to play. Play commander, Voltron him up, swing and draw.
Decent value in the Simic deck. E-wit is $3.75, Avenger at about $8, Murkfiend is $3.50, and I had no idea Ramunap Excavator was an $11 card. The commander itself will probably retain a $3-$5 value acting as an upgraded Tatyova.
they both look decently strong out of box, but I don't love them since they are both shockingly linear, especially the RW one, which looks a bit like a super budget feather shell without the interesting commander or quirky pump spells. The commanders especially are terrible. wotc has proven that they can design good RW cards, so wtf is going on here? and the UG one is traumatically similar to "the good UG card," for there is only one.
Just like the Zendikar decks, these should have been Brawl decks. The commanders are underwhelming, and the lists are subpar. Either give us $40 decks worth buying for Commander, or give us $20 decks worth buying for brawl.
Reap the Tides deck looks really good with excellent reprints. I may just get it instead of singles since I'd love a few of those reprints.
Damn, they called the kraken Trench Behemoth instead of Behemoth of the Abyss. I liked the latter name more. Oh well, I love that deck - very good and finally can be added to TappedOut so I can test these two new sea monsters.
Kodama's Reach and Cultivate in it are excellent, I also needed both.
Hmm, stumpsquall hydra is quite weak. I was thinking it should read "distribute up to X +1/+1 counters among any number of commanders and put X +1/+1 counters on it." So if you pay 5GGG you get a 6/6 hydra and 5 +1/+1 counters to throw on your commander(s). Which would be fine and not overpowered whatsoever.
