Ixidor would be a perfect legend built around Manifest. (Manifest is the better morph anyway, don't @ me.)
Also Akroma is not a legend I expected to see another card of. Not that I'm disappointed, but it felt like her story was told and her card wasn't terrible. So a bit out of the left field.
I don't see anything wrong with the artist's work.
However I will say, clearly the brief he got was for the final form Akroma who had her legs replaced and fitted with steel spikes, but the AD got the wings wrong. She did have her wings renewed, but not into steel wings. Still looks cool all things considered.
Looks good for me. I mean it is an oil painting. I actually like it. The army in the background is something that we can't see in the actual card.
That looks great. Just don't know if it translates to card size. Maybe all the previews we have are just bad quality. Will have to wait until its in hand.
Only reason I was concerned is because Chris usually does awesome art

I would be very disappointed if we got a new Ixidor that had zero synergy with Morph
Lore-wise I don’t recall Ixidor having anything to do with morph. That was just his card. In the story he just created stuff iirc.
His illusion Magic was represented by Morph in game, and many of the cards relating to him fall into that theme. I would like synergy or similarity between a new Ixidor and an old one.
I really, really hope that Ashiok is somehow related to Ixidor and/ or Chainer, but that's mostly just wishful thinking
Short of a Morph-themed precon in URG, I don’t really see any design space for such an Ixidor to appear. And I also wouldn’t want another Ixidor that’s really narrow and niche. He’s one of the most powerful characters in Magic lore, stronger than any nuWalker, but you would never know it from his card.
They could always give us a set with Manifest/ Morph, like the upcoming Modern Horizons 2, or a future Commander Legends 2.
Niche legends can be good. I'd rather Ixidor be niche and nostalgic than strong but lacking flavor.

Honestly Morph doesn’t make any sense for Ixidor from a lore perspective. Keeping Morph as Ixidor’s thing would only be to keep it like his original card, and what would be the point? Manifest would make WAY more sense, but still not a ton of sense.
Cheating out creatures is not something I want U doing with any kind of ease, so making him a URG card that cheats stuff out would be best. If he stays mono-U to have Partner then just drawing cards would be closer to his lore than Morph.

He created living beings from nothing, and many of these things could hide their identity or had none to begin with at will. He turned nothing to something as his entire power set.
How would drawing cards fit his character? He wasn't a seeker of knowledge. He wasn't a researcher. He turned illusions into reality, and manifested beings from the aether itself. I just don't see card drawing in his powerset at all.
How does morph not fit his lore? Certainly a better fit than adding green to his color identity.

Morph is turning one thing into another thing. Ixidor doesn’t do that. Drawing cards is more like creating new things.

Since when is drawing card a an act of creation?
Ixidor turned sand into water, blood into animals, thoughts into reality. He literally had an entire power set based around turning things into other things.
The only issue I have with a polymorph Ixidor is that the text would eat up most of rhe design space. It fits flavorwise, for sure. I just don't think they could do much else with it and still fit text in the box.
Skin is the same as always. The more I think about it, it's a shame we didn't get her in a dynamic pose. This is the third in a row of her just floating there (Beautifully!) Maybe her Time Spiral Remastered art will be different than previous printings. Though I low-key would also like her OG art in the new border...
So other than kobold who do we think is best to pair with her?
Akiri with a tokens artifact build nets extra combats easily, and her as well as the tokens will generally benefit too, especially since we can run eldrazi monument and akromas memorial to significant advantage to akiri herself too
Kraum also does all that and gets us blue, but itd probably have to be more of a spell slinger build with sharknados and murmuring mystics
Tribal goblins or zombies also tend to get a lot of keywords easily, so i could see the case for that with tymna or vial smasher paired with her
I could also see a tymna/akroma tokens build working because of how easily keywords can be dumped onto them with stuff like heliod or again, monument, memorial, true conviction
Radiant can become brutal, but then youre stuck in monowhite and have to build it to support flyers to really exploit radiant
Pairing her with tana to get green and red and going slivers would be hilarious
EDIT: Yeah, math was wrong on both counts. Akroma and Kamahl lead an army of 8/8s, and Akroma and Sakashima combined deal 22 damage if they get through.
I know these ideas are peddled a lot but i dont find them that productive.
If you ramp her and kahmal out, well thats a ****ton of mana. If you do them the sams turn thats 15 mana and you probably wont be able to animate lands. If you parse it out over 2 possibly 3 turns then the table can prepare
Sakashima... thats still a huge mana investment to not even one shot someone, and theres no inherent haste, so sure you can greaves one up and knock someone out but then the table retaliates and youve invest a ton of mana into something that didnt get there... and since she reads other creatures you need both to even start dealing massive damage anyway
I think its far better to just win, or knock several people out, the turn she comes down. Passing turn is a sure way to have her die.
Also Akroma is not a legend I expected to see another card of. Not that I'm disappointed, but it felt like her story was told and her card wasn't terrible. So a bit out of the left field.

We'll see her yet again in Time Spiral Remastered With any luck, having her old flavor text, and new art most likely.

I always thought Ixidor would make a good Spellshaper. Discard to create. What though, I don't know.

Aren't those 8/8? 1/1 +3 from Kamahl 4/4 with vigilance, haste, indestructible and trample?
I like the idea with green and going big creatures. Those have the most keywords and some of them spread them around without any other cards like Sephara, Sky's Blade and Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Serra's Guardian, Shalai, Voice of Plenty, Archetype of Courage, Archetype of Endurance, Angelic Skirmisher the new Dawnglade Regent I am sure there are more. The only partner I think of is Gilanra, Caller of Wirewood because she grants mana. Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix and Thrasios, Triton Hero are valid to. I typically try to avoid 3 colored decks because they end up as good stuff decks most of the time.
I know these ideas are peddled a lot but i dont find them that productive.
