Imoti has a pretty powerful effect.... but... 1 thoughness for 5 mana makes it nigh unplayable... dies to absolutely everything every time.
Your meta must be different from mine. 1 toughness may as well be 12 toughness. If you can't survive blasphemous act, austere command, ruinous ultimatum, cyclonic rift, damnation, all is dust, ultimatum, verdict, hallowed burial, any number of destroy a critter and sac a critter - you aren't safe. I think the last time 1 toughness was a death sentence was when a sword of fire and ice was wreaking havoc on 2 URX decks. And remember you aren't just getting a 3/1 - you also pick up a 0-4 cc off the cascade.

You must be in a meta where no one runs lightning bolt.
I mean, i get what youre saying - that everything dies to mass removal. That 1 toughness really is risky though, especially in metas where removal is abundant. In my meta she doesnt stand a chance. 2 or 3 toughness and maybe but at 1 any -1/-1 counter nails her.
Between that and her effect most will gun for her right out of the gate. That'll add up fast.
Any meta where removal is less abundant? Yeah that toughness wont matter.
I'm sorry, but who plays Bolt in EDH? I can't remember ever seeing a single-target burn spell anywhere.
Anyway, I like Imoti. Until now I had a Thrasios/Kydele list that combines both "wisdom" and "abundance/bounty" themes, but I guess those can both get their own deck now. On the other hand that means I'll have to get more cards...

People who realize theres an abundance of utility creatures and commanders that die to it? Thats kind of the point.
Single target removal is extremely important and more developed metas/honed decks make it so they can spot remove small things just as easily as wipe the board.
I'm with Tormented. I have PLENTY of spot removal. I just finished a 'kill anything that MOVES' Mardu deck. Jut packed with an amount of removal that will get me some dirty, dirty looks next week. And there's not one single target burn spell. A 10/10 Hydra will actually die to MORE of my spells than this will because this doesn't die to Cast Down . every other bit of removal kills both. I feel like if you are playing single target Burn spells without like Torbran, you are doing it wrong in EDH. that butt would be a liability in combat, but this commander doesn't scream 'swing with me', it screams 'slam me down and protect me in colors with SO many ways to protect me, and I generate stupid value'.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Well I can understand both sides, here. It depends on the meta. If someone is playing a Kelsien, the Plague as commander he doesn't need the help of some artifacts to destroy this creature. I had played Pyrohemia and Pestilence in the pasts. There are some Planeswalker that can shoot 1 damage to any targets, too. On the other hand most player would put real removal to the deck instead of damage based one.
the whole 1 thoughness issue isn't only for removal....
it won't survive a single combat if you don't use some kind of trick, which makes it a really, really bad blocker.
it's 5 mana.... even if it has cascade and a great backup effect it has a 2 mana body.... and not even a good 2 mana body.
sure the card will sometimes lead a blowout and the effect is powerful indeed.
but all that fragility in a 5 mana body will make it just cascade into something and die.
WOTC: We want to support Cascade...but how should we do it?
Me: Reprint interesting cards that interact with the mechanic to help inspire and encourage players to build with synergistic strategies?
WOTC: No, not obvious enough.
Me: Oh, how about...
WOTC: JUST GIVE EVERYTHING CASCADE! GIVE SOMETHING CASCADE 4 TIMES!
Me: ....k....
Everything from the last 5 years just feels like this game is moving away from the deck building aspect and into a board game.
Exactly, and this is only one reason why Scroll Rack is the best card, or at worst the best reprint in this set.
It goes in every deck and sets you up for future draws just the way you want.
Oftentimes, I like it even better than sensei's divining top.
Let them have their jeweled lotuses and gimmicky, overhyped, overpriced new toys.
Even the most competitive player only needs one of those to bring with to an event.
Scroll Rack is the card to preorder as many copies of as players can afford while the price is low.
(foil command towers, arcane signets, dual lands, mana confluence, and preordain are the other safest bets in my opinion)
All that to say...Serious commander players on a budget should worry about those priorities first.
Imoti at uncommon will be easy to trade into or buy later for peanuts, even foils (once enough product is eventually opened to satisfy demand for mythics).
Don't focus purely on what cards look good. Focus on what cards are most popular and are likely to see a high level of playability in more decks (or already do).
That's the way I do it, and it works well.
Also, I play Bolt in red commander decks and recommend it to those who don't because they think it's a wasted slot. It can will save you and change the board state drastically more often than you would think. And yes, play plenty of sweepers too.
As for Maelstrom Wanderer, it's always a fun deck, but I recently converted mine to Rug Omnath elementals instead (with Animar as the other alternate commander) to give it a more tribal identity

Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty 3GU
Legendary Creature - Naga Druid (U)
-Cascade
-Spells you cast with converted mana cost 6 or greater have cascade.
3/1
Reshape the Earth 6GGG
Sorcery (M)
-Dearch your library for up to ten land cards, put them onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library.
And yes, I understand that means giving up Imoti's own Cascade benefit...
'^^
And since I say this way too rarely: Thanks for uploading, @Ghurgs!
imoti
let’s see
Apex Devastator 4 cascades
now let’s math it up
Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty 5 cascades
maelstrom nexus 6 cascades
Arcane Adaptation + the first sliver 7 cascade
Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder Getting though 8 cascades
Lithoform Engine A cascade trigger 9 cascades
Strionic Resonator a cascade for 10 cascades
Rings of Brighthearth Both above triggers a cascade for 11 and 12
Finally hit some with cascade with sunbird's invocation Or If that just happens to be maelstrom wanderer that’s a grand total of 13 or 14 cascade triggers
Also with Imoti, Reshape the Earth Everything 6 or greater Cmc you hit will trigger a cascade so another # of the,
Last but not least with the first sliver One from before it adds another X Number of cascades if you hit creatures
that could easily add up to like 30+ cascades
you will become a legend if you can pull this off with Apex Devastator with all that
But why does this naga have so many arms?
Is this the reincarnation of prophet of kruphix?
I used to be a demigod, but now I'm an omnimage
Its potentially so nuts with Delve spells and the like ...

"Just" use Forge of Heroes, Oran-Rief, the Vastwood, Opal Palace, Novijen, Heart of Progress, Guildmages' Forum and (not *or*, *and*!) Llanowar Reborn.
Easy fix, no?

I usually don't like the extended-arts because they crop weird, but Reshape the Earth looks pretty good.

If you get 2+ spells out of this its already decent, but it will be a engine that steamrolls the game away.
Keep in mind, if you play something really huge, all the 6+ manacost cascade cards you hit also have cascade and keep going.
Play Scroll Rack and its friends , setup a chain of converted manacost and ***** cascade away.
Decks like Golos, Tireless Pilgrim will play this for all eternity.
