Sadly your stuck with Pringle because they got all reprint choices right for once because this is approximately 90$ of value
its $60 is the bad news but good news wizards is donating $30 for every secret lair purchased for a program called extra life (but really it would have Been better if 90%-100% of all profits of this went to Extra life)
They've been doing Extra Life fundraisers like this for years now, so this was.. expected, I guess. There would still be backlash, of course, but even the MLP promos got backlash for this. Also, these arts come in playmat form.
Weird question, but if WotC is donating 30 dollars for every purchase would you be able to claim 30 dollars charitable contribution on US Federal tax forms?
This may be the first Secret Lair I decide to buy.

I guess it’s not surprising they are trying it by secret lair
but yea I expect backlash/negativity toward this due to you being secret lair and probably still gonna hold grudge with the previous secret lair that shall not be named
Great cards and I like the idea for the art, I'm tempted to buy it to help a cause, but I really don't want to buy into an SL. Guess I'll see how I feel.
While i still absolutely hate the secret lair model of business and product distribution, this is at least a very solid list and its always better when even some of the greed goes to charity
Art is decent too, not the omega level cringe fest of some of them before.
----
But 60 bucks for 4 cards ?
The business model is still nothing i want to support, even if they want to sneak in their tax cut scheme (if you want to support that cause, just make a donation on your own, instead of funneling that money to WotC to artificially make the product even more expensive as a phony excuse)
The Collected Company artwork is adorable at first. But you can also think that Ajani looks like a warlord with child soldiers.
To secure the peace is to prepare for war. -Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus-
Teaching ethical self defense and discipline is not a sin.
But 60 bucks for 4 cards ?
That is my sticking point. I know the cards are valued far above that 60 dollar mark, but at 40 dollars with 25 going to charity and only 15 going to WotC would make it easier for me to stomach. If I got to choose one of those playmats as well then I'd be all in at 60 bucks for sure.

They aren't soldiers. They are learning to defend themselves. They are learning self discipline. They are learning the meaning of self-reliance and also of the common good. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Did Teddy Roosevelt advocate for child soldiers? Children shouldn't be put into combat. I'm not going to get into a big argument about this but seriously yikes dude

You seem to be wanting to make a big argument out of it aren't you?
Should youth be taught martial arts? Should youth be taught fencing, wrestling, strength training? They aren't training these "children" to be sent into combat or soldiers. Don't be argumentative for the sake of argument. Get real DUDE. You're on my ignore list now so don't expect any more interaction. Drop it and we move on.

You bring up a good point. I could just donate directly. I may do that possibly. Wotc still gets 30 bucks for 4 pieces of cardboard and a fancy box. They still make a decent profit on this.

I may want that CoCo, maybe for a EDH deck I get around to brewing. I don’t know if I want to spring for my own box even if some of the proceeds go to charity. I may just buy this CoCo as a single.

You don't really know that they're not being trained for combat. You're just assuming because you want to feel right. This is a picture of children being trained in combat by a character who's fought in wars. It's easy to imagine WHY their being trained in combat and what use they would put that training to. You can deny it all you want but come on. Either way it's not a reason to get all touchy about it. Just calm down, Guy. I didn't think saying that child soldiers was bad would be so controversial for you but you do you. And yikes dude

Why they need to come up with best secret lair ever right after the worst secret lair ever?

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Yeeeah, I get that self-defense is important and it would be one thing if it was Ajani showing a cub how to fight with a stick, but that AW definitely gives off some uncomfortable vibes, with the soldier-like pose and all.

Love the non-Phyrexian Consecrated Sphinx though.
The soldier pose leonin are adults i think, the children are the cubs, ajani is playing with one.
The soldier pose is just to reference the original art
But yes i did get the child soldier vibes initially, which was unfortunate (or not it taught me not to jump to conclusions) -- not a jab at you just my actual reflections
(8:30) theme is children

This seems like a good buy. Most/all of these are commonly used in commander.
I also hate these are only foils, thought wotc had learned
