Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
Apropos of nothing, is it just me or is there a greater number of female contributors this spoiler season? I don't usually pay attention, but it seems like there's an inordinate number of 'Lady XYZ' in thread titles. If so... good on you, Wizards.

Wizards went wide with spoilers this time around, spreading spoilers to smaller content creators, including a lot of women.
Can't tell from the art if it's a man or a woman, not that it's important, but I find myself trying to figure out whether it's one or the other.
Maybe they're neither and we don't need to think about it?
This is a cost-effective lord. I'm still not really struck on the Warrior tribe, I don't think they have a general mechanical identity yet. Clerics do lifegain, soldiers do tokens and get better in numbers, druids do their land/mana thing, assassins kill, etc. Warriors are just kinda there right now, maybe attacking is their thing, it seems to be a common thread of Warrior Commanders, at least. They just seem a bit mechanically ... basic, I guess. I love a lot of individual Warriors (like this card), but the tribe doesn't really inspire me to build them, unlike a lot of other tribes that feel more distinct.
Much more signally stuff in the past, WotC cooled down a lot in that regard (they now produce like "checkbox" art, so a set has to have some kind of sex-controversial person, just because).
A good way to determine sex in some cards is to look at a language that actually uses gendered words.
Some art it doesnt show, but the translated text absolutely does (and if it doesnt, its actually intentionally ambiguous, like this one here).
Till release we probably only have this english spoiled card, so have to wait anyway (for like a German translation to see if something tells).

Inclusion may not matter to you, but it does matter to other people. That's not "just because."
Can we agree that, in principle, it's better for all of us in the long run - as Magic players - that people from as many different races, creeds, colors, identities and preferences play this game?

On top of that, isn't "butch female warrior" an existing fantasy trope that has nothing to do with a political agenda? Sheesh. Is there really a "checkbox" here or are you just overly sensitive to having your gender norms poked at?
In any case, strange that this should cost 3 when the last cycle of tribal lords we had were in Rivals and cost 2 each for the same effect.
Well, the Warleader is a beefy 3/3. They probably want to emphasize that the Warrior tribe is going to typically be beefier than the others?
Could they not have split the difference and had it give all other warriors +2/+1 or +2/+0? I would've been fine with having it be a 3 mana 2/2 for that kind of benefit.
Remember the captain cycle from Innistrad block? I still want a 3 mana Selesnyan Human that gives Humans you control +1/+1 and some additional benefit.

I guess they just love their +1/+1 lords too much to bend symmetry.

Welcome to Warrior tribal. Don't forget to pick up a weapon on your way in.
