you know, i thought about that as i was posting this and figured some people would probably see that or get their hopes up over it. maybe he'll be in Time Spiral Remastered
My first reaction was to (fairly unfavorably) compare this to Arboreal grazer, which I had ignored for most of the current standard and am now starting to give some respect. BUT... I suspect that this actually beats out the grazer by a good margin given that in a fair number of games, cards coming down later will get value off of this where the Grazer mana bump stops mattering pretty quickly.
Emeria Captain will always be a 2/2 flying creature with vigilance for four, which is fairly decent in Limited. Moreso when it can, without much effort, be a 3/3 or 4/4. It'll be a 5/5 pretty rarely, but it's possible. Even at 3/3, which only requires a random creature of one of the other three types (which is not a difficult bar to step over by turn four), it's going to close out some Limited games.

What? No. This does nothing in standard, or any constructed format, unless party is seriously a thing (and even then, no).
A 1 drop that sets up to potentially be a 6/3 flyer on turn 3? seems dees
There is always the 2 drop that is an instaparty
Yes, although the single instaparty creature only counts as one creature for the "number of creatures in your party" part of his ability. So he'd be a 2/2 with it out. But the "full party" ability would trigger. Also I think he's at max a 5/3 flyer, or 4/2 that gives something else +1/+1 and flying, instead.

Is that right? I think "full party" requires you to have four creatures that have the four different types.

It doesn't give you a full party, though, they confirmed on the WeeklyMTG stream that a creature can only be counted as one class. The Tajuru Paragon is all 4, but may only be counted as one member of your party.
I remain confused as to what makes the elf wizard a wizard and not a druid or a shaman.
The fact that the party mechanic exists in Zendikar Rising.
Although coming up with some sort of excuse should be easy enough…
That...both makes sense and no sense at the same time.
Evidently, party scaling effects worked best at 4 and not 5, and full party requiring five creatures was problematic. I'm sure flavor was also a part of it, Druids are just not as common as the other four among existing creatures and rarely outside green. I think when they moved away from each color getting a class (which they've said was an early version of parties), it made sense that Druid got cut. For some reason, Shaman wasn't brought up as the fifth class, from what we can tell.
At the end of the day, I think it being only four classes makes the mechanic much more playable and makes it more likely to hit full party with only one or two colors.
The rest of his 4 previews cards will be shared over the course of his unboxing stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbAdL2LaQH8
This post will be updated when they're shared.

Love the "cousin" aspect to Snarecaster but not nearly as effective.
Nevermind. Confused it with Snarespinner. D'eau!

Card 3 of 4
that's it that's his party
Decent 1-drop, but I' still lukewarm on the party mechanic.
The Vorthos community will await the consequences of the Eldrazi Titans' deaths/sealing. We will keep the watch.

Nothing but set's needs. They were going to include Druids as the fifth party class, but it just didn't work.

It would be a 5/3, right? There are only 4 class types, so it can be at most a 4/2 plus the +1/+1?
