Hal and Alena's art isn't what I expected. They don't really look human or from Innistrad. It's not how I pictured them based on depictions from Innistrad block humans. They look like they're from Shadowmoor or something lol
I looked at the art and I must say that I disagree. They both look pretty much like Innistradi humans.
Well there it goes. My hope for a decent mono white Angel tribal commander.
I am curious about the powerful white cards. Keeper of the Accord is cool but I think I prefer smothering tithe... Being an Enchantment is so good in white. Nonetheless I think I will end with both in a deck.
Wow, i thought they learnt from the big mistake that was Ludevic... instead they make a character like Sengir a crappy monocolored commander.
Partner is already unispired as hell and this is even more. Why Halana and Alena have simple partner and not partner with? Why the prismatic piper is the most unispired thing ever?
I was incredibly hyped for this set, but if partner is the big thing, i'm gonna pass.
The issue is that people have stopped complaining about Ludevic years ago, but are still complaining about Thrasios and Tymna to this day. Those two also probably the reason Sengir is "nerfed." I think they got scared of partner halfway through, but don't have enough Battlebond-ready printers to do partner with.

yes and yes
and I do see how the foiling is now it’s essentially how it all started only the border has foil now the art
although there will be some partners that are busted again in commander legends alena is the first one that’sbroken especially with Thrasios, Triton Hero Because
A: intruder alarm will easily infinite and dig your whole deck (Thrasios)
And B: 6 or greater power creature infinite combat/infinite R mana with Aggravated Assault
Sengir is going to be a bit annoying when it comes to remembering the life total.
That white card is definitely good.
Glad to have normal Partner back. I was getting tired of Partner With again and again as I think it stifles deck building by only allowing two legendaries to be with each other.
I do like the foiling on Prossh, but I do have to wonder how easily those will curl.

You are misremembering the problem with Ludevic. Ludevic's problem was that it didn't do what Ludevic does. It wasn't even in the right colors. While Sengir here is a fairly perfect representation of what he should be. He has a significantly stronger "Sengir" ability and a reasonable extrapolation of that ability for players. As far as on point legends go this is one of the best considering most of this characters renown is about their legacy in other cards rather than their own story. If you're just complaing about power level don’t pretend its a vorthos concern.
As far as the piper is concerned its a beautiful fix to an unreasonable problem. The problem being "We built a commander draft set. What if they fail to draft a commander in the right colors?" It's a problem they could probably ignore and it only matters 1% or less of the time. But they knew it could be a problem so they made a solution. I'm certain everyone complaing about it being unispired couldn't come up with a better solution.

Could give it more functionality. I mean it's a 5 mana 3/3.
Something akin to:
Whenever you can a spell of the chosen color, do the following:
If green: create a 0/1 green Plant creature token
If red: deal 1 damage to target creature or Planeswalker
If blue: scry 1.
If black: each opponent loses 1 life
If white: choose a color, target creature gains protection from that color
Obviously more balanced than what I put, but you get the idea.
In the case of Goblin King the flavor text sort of gives away that the are not really "noble" and more assassins that keep killing the previous one. I agree with the rest though.
Well, if those lands are the best they got then color me disappointed.
What could you have possibly been expecting, that these would be a disappointment? Fetches reprinted at common? Functional reprints of the beta dual lands?
They decided that if a creature has another job/class they wouldn't put the noble type, which is why Brimaz or Darien don't get it. Noble is a job/class more so than status for creature types. That doesn't fix all your complaints but there is a bit of reason there.

Yeah no one is complaining about Ludevic anymore. No one is talking about Ludevic anymore. No one is playing Ludevic anymore. Quite a success, right?
If your mechanic either produce boring ***** like Ludevic or broken ***** like Thrasios, maybe you should trash that mechanic and never make it see the light again.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I don’t think they really could’ve done mono-color without partners... and for once, “because limited” is pretty good at explaining things.
Literally every legend in this set is intended to sit at the head of a limited commander deck. For that reason, we probably won’t see any colorless commanders (even with partner), commanders for niche archetypes that can’t be supported by the set at large, or any niche tribal commanders.
Yes, commander players are hungry for a hundred different super-niche commanders. Having a small number of legends that are in no way intended for limited may not seem relevant when the other 65 are and you are guaranteed to see at least 6 legends per draft. All the same, putting in a Random mono-green, non-partnered plant tribal commander that just does nothing in drafts and risks misleading players is... would that actively make the set better?
Seems like it would make more sense to wait for another opportunity like Dominaria where legends are a theme and can appear in large numbers but limited play doesn’t force you to build a deck around one of them.
Yeah, I realize that I’m advocating against a broad swathe of commanders appearing in our first specialized commander set. Limited play does weird things.
Hal and Alena finally getting cards is absolutely a good call.
I admire that they have individual cards, but also partner. I'd love to see this for Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis.
Partner being in the set seems to imply we may get reprints of the C16 legends? That would be amazing. May not get them all, though. But Partner appearing in a draftable Commander set definitely makes sense. Allows for diverse, flexible play.
I hope see Pavios and Thanasis in the future.
I'd be feeling the lands if they weren't Kylem themed. Meh.
Without fail, when I'm looking at new spoilers, I'll scroll down through the comments and usually by the end of the first page find one reply that irks me, usually because it's complaining in some petty way about the reveal.
Then usually the second part of that reply, there will be a comment about how the post wishes this new card/product had been connected to Theros somehow. Without fail, it will be this account.
It's fine to put your perpetually negative two cents in, and I guess it's fine to constantly lobby for more Theros, but do you really need to reply to this post 7 different times? At what point does a community member get flagged as a spammer? Really asking.

On MTGO as Protoman.
On 7/14/10, broke 1900 mark! <3 ROE.
I'm really pulling for this and Zendikar. So far only Theros delivered for me this year.
...I am confused.
Your interests in MTG appear to be two planes (Mostly Theros and a little bit Kamigawa), Two planeswalkers (Kiora + Jace), and Sea Monsters.
I get that there is no problem asking for but isn't there some realistic expectation of seeing what you like less frequently when your interests are so narrow?

Liked Hall and Alana, didn't like Baron and the artifact abstract art. For Baron Sengir i think it is missing something, the artifact partner is meh.
: D
Sengir looks great, love the Pete promo. Still kind of bummed that the Noble creature type is so fickle; Goblin King should be a noble. Lord of Atlantis should be a noble. Brago, King Eternal is a noble, but Brimaz, King of Oreskos is not a noble. Chicken à la King has recieved errata to make it a noble! Darien, King of Kjeldor is still just a Human Soldier!

Rona, Disciple of Gix Has blue so I suppose gix could be dimir despite all cards made while he was alive were all mono black
and prediction he might top tiny bones for discard legend Based on Oppression and Bereavement

I don't like that every mono color commander will have partner. But maybe there's some hope still for some powerful ones.
I have the same fear. I think they could have add at least 1 rare of each color without partner.
The mono white partner cards are very uninspired. Regna, the Redeemer and Trynn, Champion of Freedom are just mediocre token generators. I think Sylvia Brightspear is the only okish one. I am curious to see what they will come up with.

Would have loved to see some Blue cards, ahem. I wonder when we'll get more previews of this set? Mid-October? Sigh.
