I can now 100% safely say the only singles I will try and track down are the showcase Academy Ruins, and the alternative art Chord Of Calling. I can maybe, maybe talk myself into a showcase copy of FOW. I do have decks I’m building taking up my time and money so the $200-$300 FOW is only a maybe.
talk about cards that will be just a golden bullets in the format
Indeed. Pauper is getting some nice additions with this set. Someone over on Reddit already has a UB Pauper Eggs brew around Myr Retriever that looks solid.
tinfoil hat theory locust and scarab god were reprints
the theory is the scorpion god and Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons will be reprinting in commander legends for the purposes of a BRG or higher legend that focus's on -1/-1 counters
I’m not sure about box EV and I realize some rares are a major miss, but the set overall looks like rather good value as far as I can tell. Assuming two packs go for 16, which is 8 each and cheaper than 10 for other sets I suppose.
The filter lands are a total let down, this was the perfect set for fetches to get reprinted.
It would've sold so many packs.
This set is already gonna sell so many packs. They've never done two rares per pack before. They included all the enemy swords. The quality of the reprints is through the roof. Now they can include the fetch lands in a different product and continue to sell. They know what they're doing, They're printing money. And if anybody believes that they are not influenced with the secondary market, this is proof.

THANK YOU! your first person here to realize despite the Some of the rares are garbage When it comes to pulling from a pack that they know what they are doing
edit: oh almost forgot stores usually crack them to sell the singles which make lots
I don't think there will be as many individual players buying booster packs. $16 is a lot. If you look at the list of cards on mtgstocks.com, there are over 2/3 of the rares that are not worth more than $5 or are not staples in various formats. If you draw two lower-priced rares from that list, it's a major feel-bad.
Retailers and people with a lot of money will likely be the only ones buying the boxes outright to sell singles.

Agreed, but never underestimate the power of a lottery ticket. That's exactly what these are. Lottery tickets. The only difference is that you're guaranteed to get something from a pack of magic cards whereas you likely get nothing from the scratch ticket. Anybody who's ever bought packs of magic to try to get value knows this, and this is no different.

Yes, I know the feeling of that lottery ticket pull. I'm sure most of us here have tried to buy individual boosters, even against our better judgment.
For me, I actually cancelled my pre-orders of Double Masters and will just get singles for my lone Commander deck. I am seriously fatigued from these boosters.
I recently bought a box of Pokemon Sword and Shield Rebel Clash, and although most of the cards aren't worth very much on the secondary market, just pulling full art or foils in the "regular" booster is a great feeling. I don't feel so ripped off.
I really like this set for pauper. It's nice seeing a masters set not be adding broken things like Peregrine Drake to the format, but rather adding mainly just solid answers to all kinds of threats in Abrade and Cast Down. Also I'm really excited for Bone Picker as a delver-style threat in a different color with a different condition to turn it on.

Me either, and I’ve been playing since Legends.
However, I’m happy to see WotC using him again just for the nostalgia.

7-8 Rares worth more than Pack Price.
Buyer Beware.

You should have bought singles, because unless you wanted full art foil versions of Jace and Force of Will, you might have spent less than $600.
Sorry to hear that you lost the lottery.
