This oubliette reprint shouldve been in a more accessible product. No excuse other than greed.
Oubliette's price will crash solely from this printing, since it was a supply problem like Berserk. Unlike Berserk, this is $30 and not $300, so the drop will be to single digits. I'm willing to bet $5 will be its final resting place, price-wise.
It won't even be $5, it will be like $1. There isn't that much demand for Oubliette, it's only priced so silly because it was printed once in Arabian Nights. It sees play in a handful of pauper decks, and isn't even a 4 of in those decks. Looking at Ultimate Masters for example there isn't even a $5 uncommon in the set.
There won't be much demand for the new version. The old version by virtue of its age and scarcity will always be worth more than its reprint. See Bird Maiden being worth between $1.20 to $2.00 based on version and condition for Arabian Nights while its subsequent reprints are worth $0.03 to $0.05.
That's... a fairly significant functional change. For the better, mostly. Takes equipment with it, doesn't trigger ETB or LTB effects... in addition to corner cases such as keeping a stack of mutated creatures as one entity instead of bringing them back as multiples, etc.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
