yes, that is lame. not to mention it will also mix up with the 1st look at zendikar.
wizards knows how to build "no hype" for a set. or maybe it works better to just spoil a few days before release, take in the short hype sells and than move on to the next product. who knows. but spoiler season isnt enjoyable anymore. (but guess it doesnt matter that much in a reprint set)
Would it be fair to say spoilers coming late seems indicative that they're not confident in the contents of the set? Like, raise the hype RIGHT before release so people buy it before they have time to take it in and realize it's bad?
10 days of previews seems like a long enough time for a set with no new cards. It has no strategy impact on the game. And with *so many* releases this year, longer preview periods just makes it more likely that previews overlap or run up against each other. If this preview season started earlier it would be even more on top of core 21 than it already is. Jumpstart is only just available today! (So the problem might be an overly packed product schedule and unending stream of product being foisted upon us.)

Thats part of online comic con, so don't think it was planned this way.

It does seem late but Seth (oioooooooootherwise known as Saffron Olive) made a great point that this was likely designed after Ultimate Masters was a hit. When IMA was a disaster they took a pause but here we are a few years after UMA, ,2XM is coming. I got my box at $400 CDN and I feel that will likely be a steal. People are just killing themselves in my feed to get the double box toppers and the box probably has a lot of other goodies too...going to be a nice treat to myself, as I won't be purchasing Commander Legends because Gavin Verhey geeked out about Baron Sengir. Only Zendikar fetches or Three Visits or Riding the Dilu Horse or Cruel Tutor will save that set now. BIG reprints, ,like Top, etc.
But I digress..looking forward to 2XM, the new sweetness.

Not sure if I understood this part correctly, but Baron Sengir isn't getting a reprint in Commander Legends. The character is getting a new card called Sengir, the Dark Baron, with this art.

Yeah, generally making decisions (pro or against) on buying a set based on your thoughts on a single card spoiled or not-spoiled is not a well-informed choice. I think the first two cards spoiled from Masters 25 were Jace TMS and Azusa.
I find it surprising that Gaby Spartz is presenting a card or cards. Didn’t they remove her from a content creator program or something?
My hopes are that they have a populated higher-end card selection to warrant the ridiculous price point of the VIP Boosters. There better not be any Tree of Perdition or triskaidekaphobia shenanigans in this set.
I am happy to see Nizzahon présent a preview. I watch his drafts a lot.

Yea... Watching his most recent video is a stark contrast to the video's where he interviewed people(or just person? I can't remember) from WotC. I admire his integrity though.
It's been increasingly difficulty, at least for me, to get excited for new sets because of stuff like this. Although I think it has more to do with the frequency of products being released and less with price points (although I am not a fan of the price either).
Without even seeing the spoilers, I'd feel this set will probably be something I would get excited about under more traditional circumstances.

Honestly even if we had less products this year and this set hit it out of the park I'm probably going to say this set was awful strictly because of its price and the VIP boosters. There's no reason for either of them.

I agree the VIP boosters are stupid expensive, as in the product has become lame.
But the regular boosters seem packed full of value for $12-14 - that's not much more than I paid per pack for a box of Ultimate Masters and that was one of the most fun boxes I ever opened - and these have double the foil/rare slots.

Were almost certain it's focused more on new cards rather than reprints in commander legends plus almost everytime everyone anticipates reprints like this you guys end up with disappointment
(but more hope with double masters based on henrumornthat has quite a few correct)

For $16+ bucks per booster the set is going to have to be filled to the brim with value else there will be many packs opened that have $5 in it. I'm alright blowing $4 to get a $1 rare, but when you quadruple+ the price it'll feel far worse to open $4 worth of cards.

We have no idea if the packs are actually filled with value at this point, but you’re looking at this like an abused spouse. WotC is hurting you for no reason, but this time isn’t much worse than last time.
There is no reason whatsoever for Masters packs to cost more than regular packs. If anything they should cost less because there isn’t anywhere near as much development required for reprint sets. Every new Standard set(excepting Core Sets) requires new art for every card and a very lengthy development process involving probably 10x as many employees. Reprint sets only require a small design team to develop the draft experience and a handful of new art commissions. If a Standard pack costs $3.99 with all the work and time and money that goes into making that set then Masters sets should cost $2.99.

Wait until you open a pack and it has two 25 cent rares and two 25 cent foil commons in it and bulk everything else. 16 dollars for 1 dollar secondary market value of cards. Its going to happen to a lot of people if they just pop for one pack. Near valueless draft chaff will be present in Spades, like every other "Masters" set.

Well, it's hard to say with only 5 cards shown so far. Right now packs are about $13-14 (at least at my local game store and when I looked on Amazon just now). But the 5 cards we have seen all have much higher value than $14 - ranging from $18 (Atraxa) to the $40-70 range and higher (Mana Vault) so unless they already showed us the top 5 cards in the set (possible, I suppose, but that seems unlikely) I still disagree with the assessment I was quoting - that you said the product was "Awful" - unless you dislike Masters sets in general. They are all like this, though the price has been creeping up a few bucks per booster each time a new set comes out, which is bit annoying. But you will always open packs and get a bad feel moment or two, that's how gambling works. If you want the cards you want, buy them as singles. it's not an "awful" product, at least in my opinion so far.
We have no idea if the packs are actually filled with value at this point, but you’re looking at this like an abused spouse. WotC is hurting you for no reason, but this time isn’t much worse than last time.
That's because I remember half the Masters sets have been bad and I don't believe everything will turn out sunshine and rainbows like a hippy.

There's no reason they should have gone above $7 like the first Modern Masters. That was acceptable and yet we've now more than doubled the price of Masters sets since then. That's not even to mention that this premium product has a $100 premium product with it.
Well, it's hard to say with only 5 cards shown so far. Right now packs are about $13-14 (at least at my local game store and when I looked on Amazon just now).
Looking at WotC's page on Amazon it's $16.30 a pack normally, but currently it's 10% off at $14.60. I am going to go by their price.
I have no problem with the idea of buying boosters and the gambling portion of the game, I literally mentioned it in the post you quoted, but when the packs are $16+ it becomes a bit much, and that's not even mentioning the gamble of the $107 VIP booster (based off their Amazon price). I mean I bought a couple boosters from a Wal-Mart a couple days ago and pulled a foil Ugin and foil showcase Grim Tutor and I've opened a Jace, the Mind Sculptor in a Masters pack before, but I don't expect that from boosters all the time. The most I hope for is that what I open has some use to me, like lands or specific cards I enjoy or can use in an EDH deck.
Look, I could easily buy 12 cases of Double Masters and still have plenty of money left over, but just because I can afford itdoesn't mean it's a good buy. I'd much rather spend that $16 on the 15 pounds of food I can make that will last me days.
