Oh damn, that angel is using weapons crafted out of Kozilek's bismuth! Neat!
Also, those spectral-looking wisp thingies coming out of that Sea Gate tower kinda look like Ugin's manifest magic, or the planeswalker sparks flying around Ravnica during War of the Spark. It's probably not related to either of those things, but it looks quite similar.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I must be the only one who feels the Art looks really dreary and heavily rendered/CGI. Idk. It feels off
I'm still excited for it since I really like Zendikar a lot, but I agree that most of the art shown here looks very "flat" and "digital" if that makes sense. Most of this art looks like commons and uncommons though, so the "bigger" cards will probably have better art.
I'm mostly sad about no eldrazi has been confirmed. But it'll be cool to see the plane with so much stuff going on not being about eldrazi again.

Yeah I got that impression too. I'm sure higher value cards will have good art.
I prefer no Eldrazi but I do like how they're making Zendikar a world touched by and yet having survived the Eldrazi. Like nature growing over the bismuth monuments etc.
The idea of six dual lands is interesting. Makes me wonder if colorless costs are returning. I know they said no Eldrazi, but if the ruins that they left will be featured in the set then perhaps we’ll also see wastes and have a few colorless mana matters cards, implying that colorless mana has forever left it’s mark on Zendikar.
The reason why I say this is because a cycle of 6 dual lands only works if there are 6 types of mana, unless they are okay with one enemy dual in a set of 5 allied duals or visa versa. It could also be just a miscommunication and the 6th land is not a dual land.
There's our 4 color Omnath. First green, then added red, followed by blue. Looks like he has a white arm in the image. Maybe Omnath, Locus of Zendikar?
The black swirls behind Nahiri remind me of the Blackblade.
If anything that art elegantly demonstrates the resilience of nature even under the most strenuous of circumstances. Dang, this would’ve been a huge flavour win if they waited to print Wilderness Reclamation here instead of in RNA.
I think that’s Nissa scaling the cliff in the first piece, makes me think the set’s story will focus mainly on her as Ixalan focused on Jace.
I don’t know about you, but the pics on the draft boosters look like the PWs have aged somewhat. Very cool to see

Is this gonna be another set where Nahiri and Sorin are just slapfighting each other as a side story? Maybe this is the one where they start making out in the middle of it like a 90's sitcom
I have a hard time thinking of a reason why these planeswalkers are all here, don't they still have Phyrexians to fight? Koth is still like "Guys? did you forget about me? Guys? Please someone help "
At least some remnant Eldrazi would have been nice. My interest is waning.
Do you want WotC to commit suicide? Because, seriously, a whole bunch of fans would tear them to shreds if they saw even a single eldrazi in this set. I'm afraid you're going to have accept the fact that you are going against the grain here.

I agree. I can't imagine anything I would be more critical about than that.

I'd be shocked if there wasn't at least one mythic Legendary Artifact/Enchantment that represented the hedron or binding spell or what-have-you that led the Zendikari to victory, or otherwise represents the Eldrazi's defeat. It's not like they won't even be mentioned. They just won't be there.

ELDRAZI CARDS. A small handful of Eldrazi that escaped or weren't bound. CARDS
The set might as well be Ixalan or Alara without any Eldrazi for me. It's like showing up at a renowned burger joint only to find they aren't selling burgers, pointless. A mention doesn't help me PLAY a game of Magic.

Except for many other players what defines Zendikar for them is not the Eldrazi, and for many of those players BFZ block was a disappointment. It was a popular reaction to the block to wish the Eldrazi weren't there. WotC has said as much. This will be the Zendikar return for those fans who didn't want the Eldrazi. That's just where the numbers lie.

I couldn't agree more with this sentiment. I am welcoming a Zendikar sans Eldrazi with arms wide open. There's nothing I hate more than eldrazi.

Eldrazi on Theros?
ffffffff
Thankfully, there's no reason for that. Same with Phyrexia.

Personally I always found the Magic narrative best when it treated their worlds like living, breathing systems that are subject to change and growth (or destruction). It gives the whole thing stakes and a sense of realness and progression.
Now planes are just brands, like the planeswalkers. There's no drama. Brands cannot die. They can only be discarded. (Shoutout to Kamigawa, Lorwyn and Ulgrotha.) There is no urgency. There are no stakes. There is no excitement beyond the vending machine playing a safe and predictable jingle you've grown to love associate with positive feelings.
But whatever. I know this is an unpopular opinion but understanding you're in the minority doesn't mean you have to like what the majority is forcing the game's narrative to be.

I also added the boosters, I'am still wondering what that black smoke on Nahiris picture means.

No that’s just not happening because of the second revist and innistrad then gone from loved to hated
We will see them again eventually just not here
