Radha, Heart of Keld 1RG
Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior
As long as it is your turn Radha, Heart of Keld has first strike.
You may look as the top card of your library any time, and you may play lands from top of your library. 4RG: Radha gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of lands you control.
3/3
i mean... shes okay, but i dont know. Something just feels boring and off. Red does real well with land destruction but that gameplan ends up being counter intuitive to what she does, first strike feels unnecessary
I want to sound an alarm here that this could be another sleeper "ruins your standard" card. Courser of Kruphix was a powerful value engine that saw a lot of play. This is similar value engine, better aggressive body worse defensive and less information revealed. But its also stapled to an end-game win condition. Its like you take your courser's draw package and give it an ability rivaling spawnsire of ulamog. Yikes. Because decks with cards like growth spiral, uro, titan of nature's wrath and this will have no problems accelerating out land drops, and 6 lands turns this into a 9/9 first strike, but once it hits that critical 12th land you suddenly get a ridiculous 27/27 first strike that can end the game in one attack. Yeah, no evasion, no protection, but it seems extremely dangerous to have an already efficient draw/ramp pieces that's equivalent to a previous all-star card and staple a mana dump that wins you the game onto it. It would be like if they reprinted Priest of Titania but gave it a fireball activated ability
Still way better than the previous two versions. But the question is, why does such a boring legend warrent three iterations?
In all fairness, I thought she was pretty critically important to the Time Spiral storyline, right? A would-be planeswalker who had her spark taken in order to close one of the time rifts, and now leading Keld in existing Dominaria?
Anyway, good card. In EDH, I don't think this replaces Courser (although I love that opponents can't see the top of your deck) because the incidental lifegain from courser is probably more useful than the chance to be huge if you pump lots of mana into it. So does she make the cut in Jund/Gruul/rainbow lands matter decks? Maybe, but we have a lot of cards that fill this sort of role.

I probably missed something, how did he get to 27/27 in your scenario?

And only on your turn. Because a defensive value card would be too much I guess.
Maro has talked about this a bit before. First strike, as you rightly note, encourages defensive play. Obviously, for a lot of Red cards, that's not the aspect they want to play up. So making it "first strike on your turn" keeps the aggressive aspect of it, and dials down the power level a bit so they can push it somewhere else.

Jeska/Phage used her to seal the Zalfiran rift in particular, so, yeah.

multiple activations, and you can do it after blockers are declared. So if all your mana is from land sources, it becomes
3 mana = 3/3
6 mana = 9/9
9 mana = 12/12
12 mana = 27/27
That means Radha can be a 3 turn clock at 6 mana avaible (more likely 2, if she got in a hit) and 1 turn clock at 12 mana.
which is a pretty scary payoff for a card that's already mostly equivalent to courser of kruphix before that ability. These decks hit 6 mana fast with their uro/spiral ramp and have no problems flooding 12+ lands onto the battlefield midgame.
Seems really powreful in a heavy lands EDH deck. Where you can justify running something like 87-ish lands. As you can have god turns of like:
Turn 1: Forest, Manabond, drop the rest of your hand onto the board so you now have seven lands.
Turn 2: Summon Radha, likely play another land off the top for eight.
Turn 3: Land for nine, Swing with a 12/12
OR
Turn 1: Forest, Exploration, Mountain
Turn 2: Forest, Radha, Mountain
Turn 3: two more lands, activate Radha and swing with a 9/9
OR
Turn 1: Forest, Sol Ring
Turn 2: Mountain, Radha
Turn 3: Forest, Hour of Promise, swing for 3
Turn 4: Land, swing with Radha again for 7.
And since I play these kind of decks, its going to be the most fun to explosively down someone by turn 4 or 5.
So is the point of her having 3 completely different cards to show off her wide array of abilities? The first two seemed pretty close to each other, both being mana dorks based on combat.
This card feels like it could've been any other creature and they just tacked her name on it because it's easy. The art even has nothing to do with the card kind of like it was back in the old days.

I’m not a big lore person, but from what I’ve read about other characters in this set, this is from a much earlier time, pre invasion, and many characters were different.

Well she still interacts with mana by filtering lands from your deck; I think this version shows how both her aggressive nature and connection with the land tie together.

Hmm, good call. Run it with all the additional land plays, especially Burgeoning, and go to town.
