A disappointing land cycle tbh, I thought they would use this Core Set to complete one of the uncompleted cycles in Pioneer, but apparently not. The return to Zendikar is surely going to have a strong land cycle now otherwise the manabases in Standard are going to absolutely suck post-rotation.
It seems weird that everybody seems to hate these, yet everybody uses them in their decks???
They're only used in decks in Standard because there's not much else available.
I also believe that come Zendikar Rising, we won't see legal fetches reprinted, but we will either see reprints of the Battlelands (or tangolands, whatever people call them), or perhaps the enemy cycle of those lands, which would be weird due to the enemy cycle scry lands here in M21.

Because if there's nothing better you will use what is available.
When the rare lands enter the battlefield tapped it will tend to mean that the aggro decks tend to be mono-colour as these are really bad in aggro decks, and everything else will be mid-range/control.
When shocks leave in September/October these will be your default go-tos provided no other dual land surfaces in Zendikar III. You'll have the Triomes but still they're at least something.

The mouths of complaints come from people who don’t play commander
It's standard/non commander formats is where these stink as rare so these are good for commander players
Wrong. Commander players may use some of these, but it sure doesn’t mean they want more of them, or were asking for another opportunity to pull them.
If a Commander player wants one, they can pony up the .60 - $1.70 they cost on TCGP and get them there. Increasing availability and increasing affordability are the only reasons for a Commander player to get excited over any reprints. Availability or affordability is never an issue with these; even players on a budget don’t need these reprinted. Half of them are less than a dollar. After this reprint, most will be less than a dollar. Not what one wants in a rare land cycle.
I play commander and this is cringe. They should be uncommon. But honestly I wish Theros could get unique Legendary Lands instead of these temples every time.
Ok, so it's not that they are necessarily bad it's just you don't want to pull one as a rare. All about the value
So the argument is Scry 1 is not two rarities better than Gain 1 Life. It should only be one rarity better
All I can say is that unless I'm playing agains mono aggro, opponents first play is almost always Scry land go, better than a shock land
We can't keep up the Power Creep complaints, they are already pushing things soooooo far. We aren't getting Duals in standard so these seem pretty good.
Do I want to crack one in my pack....No.....but that's a seperate subject.

Just realized that after rotation we will only have Triome, Temple and the life-gain lands.
Since shocks leave Standard, mana fixing will indeed be a bit awkward.
It won't be though as there's no way with that in mind there isn't something in Zendikar. When was there last a Standard that had no enter the battlefield untapped dual lands? Standard would be really bad and one dimensional if that were the case, and the best deck would almost certainly be mono-red given Embercleave remains legal post-rotation.

At least Temples thematically make sense for Theros. They named the shockland generically so they can print them anywhere...and then only print them in Ravnica.

I thought the most boring land reprints would be enemy painlands like Shivan Reef with the same art again. But these temples are actually duller. Definitely only in the set for the sake of keeping all 10 in Standard with Theros Beyond Death.
I think painlands should replace ETBT duals in their entirety. At least you have the option of progressing your plans (at a cost) with them instead of staring gloomily at your tapped out lands.
The only reason this bothers me is that I don’t look forward to these eating a rare slot in my packs on arena just because they have a different set symbol. Same with Fabled Passage. And that one doesn’t even extend its life in standard since this will rotate at the same time as Eldraine.

Eldraine but they pointed out that was not the norm and only happened due to Ravnica having done a lot of good mana fixing and it and Theros leaning to mono-colored so didn't full need them anyways.
I'd bet Zendiakr has a full cycle of lands tbh. Its the lands matters plane so they always try to make as many cool lands as they can fit. We also don;t know if its a stand-alone set or not so that might be a factor of why it looks kinda bare right now.

Couldn't agree more, mostly because I have a lot of painlands laying around, including an Ice Age Underground River I'd love to sleeve up again, also, ETBT duals are a hindrance for 2-color tempo or aggro decks that can't afford the tempo loss, unlike midrange or ramp builds, or the Teferi-based control decks that just won't go away.

Guess who's back? That's right, these five again.
It's so they don't rotate out of standard (so all 10 rotate together) plus temples could use reprints alot For edh players
This is like one of the most annoying land cycles ever.
I can only agree . . .
Unfortunately these are at rare.
